This is the most disheartening thing I've had to do. I've finally had it with the service there. I've been going to chi chi's for over 30 years. The food has always been great and I have rarely had bad service when at the restaurant. But for some reason takeout is another story. Today I called and made an order. They said 50 min. I got there early and still waited 20 min before I went to talk to a kid who said he was in charge. No manager on duty and no one of authority to make actually decisions that could help. When I look in the kitchen they had a good amount of completed orders and mine just sitting there. People were sitting waiting for there food that already paid. And again mine was done but wouldn't let me pay. How does this makes sense. Call out names. Get those orders out and keep moving down the line to people's orders that weren't done. This kid couldn't run the restaurant let alone a shift of workers properly. He knew it was my order but told me to stand in line. Behind a line of people whose food probably wasnt done but hey, start calling names out and cashing these people out , NOPE. Let's have 1 person to check on a person and pull an order every once in a while, that's the way to run this. This is after all the other stay at home stuff we have to deal with they add bad service , but please come get food from us mentality because we are hurting. I dont understand why restaurants are allowing irresponsible people to handle such a big day like today. I'm guess that they are not hurting from everything going on. Did they loose my business. I dont know but I hope that someone in management at least handles this kid . What has happen to the good service, Why always the attitude. Worse service ever! Disappointed because this was one of my favorite...
Read moreWe're from the deep south so the bar on fried chicken is very high. The pressure cooker method is a new way to do it to me and it makes the chicken super juicy and the skin just the right degree of crunch but not hard, so perfectly cooked every time. The flavor though is not quite there. It's good fried chicken, make no mistake, but is it elite? It isn't for me but I enjoyed it and I'll have it again. Our server said it would change my life. I didn't argue but if you want THAT chicken then there many, many places back in Alabama or Atlanta, the southeast in general that are far superior but that's ok, it's a southern staple and has been perfected over decades or even centuries. For Southern California I expect this is about as good as you're going to find fried chicken on a menu. My wife tried the gluten free chicken alfredo and said it is among or perhaps the best she's ever had, particularly raved about the chicken, which can be an afterthought with pasta dishes. Not so here. It's a five star experience all around. Server was very friendly and helpful. I also like the setup in this location. It's been there for years but everything is clean and in great condition, from the booths, to the carpet, even the ceiling fans. I think the wife and I have founf=f isd a place. Next time it's pizza or pasta for me and she'll get the chicken. ...
Read moreFirst off, service was fantastic. Thats why this is a 2 star and not a 1. Staff was curtious and swift, and kept moving non-stop. Hats off to them.
Now, the problem: the food was..... unimpressive. The salad was fresh enough, but the rolls were the same frozen-and-then-finished-on-site rolls you see at most low quality places. But the real problem is the pizza! The pizza, which is supposed to be their main ticket item, tasted like it was a grocery store pizza, fresh from the frozen section. The crust is chewy and dense, the cheese is stringy and tasteless, and the sauce is thin and bland. They try to hide this all under a thick coating of toppings (which I admit were OK) but the general low quality of what should be their mainstay is really hard to ignore. If you are a pizza joint and you cant make pizza that at the very least can compete with the delivery chains, you need to reivaluate your business. If pizza hut or papa johns put them to shame - and they do- then they either need to abandon pizza or rebuild it from scratch. Ive had better pizza from...
