RACIST and very rude manager I write this review feeling very sad, disappointed and highly offended, as I have been a very loyal customer for the last three years. Now, I understand that my prior very good experiences were just from one outstanding employee. So I will definitely point that out. I have been going there for three years, every Friday for "happy hour" around 3 to 5pm with my best friend. Smitty has always helped me, very very polite, excellent customer service, his margaritas are absolutely the best, food has been good. Last Friday, June 7 , I decided to take my friends there, at night time to celebrate my birthday. I was warned by two people if I was sure I wanted to go there because apparently the place is known for misogynistic and racist treatment to Non-Caucasian people. I was very surprised to hear this. My group and I arrived between 9 and 9:30 pm. We patiently waited to be provided with a table. My friends and I asked if we could join two tables together, one server told us that he didn't think so because another server had that table but he was willing to ask. A couple of minutes later, another server arrives, young (mid twenties perhaps), light skin, tall. One of my friends, asks if we could put the tables together please. He proceeds to raise his voice and say , "I said no, and I am not going to have two servers serving you". At that point my friend points out that the previous party did the same thing and were blocking the aisles, why couldn't we do that, his response was "I don't care what the other party did , I am saying YOU Can't" It was clear to us, the difference between the prior party and us, is that we are Latinas, some of us, have a clear accent. What he doesn't know is that we all are a group of highly educated Latinas. We asked if he was treating us that way because of our race, as it was obvious that the prior party and others surrounding us could do things, we couldn't (have more chairs), except , they were white. One of the ladies in my group pointed it out the obvious, and his response once again, raising his voice and with body posture indicating aggression he replied "you can think whatever you want, I say no, if you don't like it I can ask you to leave right now". My friend told him that his response was very rude and asked to speak to the manager, to which he responds "well, I am the manager honey" we asked to speak to a higher up as he offered if we wanted to speak to someone above him, and he very proudly with a lot of adolescent attitude stated "well, the owner is my mom , I am happy to lend you my phone, go ahead call my mom". I responded no, we don't need to call anyone , he walked away as my friends and I shook our heads and said that it was extremely rude, he came back , more aggressive saying "what you have something to say?" to which I (wanting to celebrate my birthday) responded: "no, we don't have anything else to talk" and of course, the powerful response from the son of the owner, and manager was : "yeah, I thought so". Needless to say, I will not be returning. The prior server came back and offered that whatever drinks we had ordered he would take care of. I appreciated his gesture, however, the damage was done already. LATINOS, BEWARE, the leader of this establishment , very racist. They do have one or two servers who have manners, Smitty and some short young man who always wears an...
Read moreBesides the fact that they still allow smoking even when you're sitting inside the smoking from outside comes in as you're trying to eat your food Besides that , I've been coming to this place for years and years. I noticed the last time I was there Since the new ownership, the food quality has gone down. My friend ordered the taco salad bowl. It came and the shell was almost burnt. He usually eats it, but it was burnt. He had to ask for silverware and salad dressing, my food I ordered the lunch pastrami sandwich Special usually comes with a nice sized bowl of chili this time. It came in a very small to- go paper cup. Are you kidding me and was luke warn? Are they saving that much money on CHILI to serve it to you like that now? Very, very disappointed, I kept asking for mustard For my pastrami sandwich and just got ignored. I don't know what's going on there. Maybe the new owner has taken the enthusiasm of the employees and dropped it, but the prices have gone up. Food has gone down too bad. You'd better go back to your old ways. You're gonna start losing business. We came from the valley to have lunch. Waited. Forever to get our check to leave, And I don't believe I'll be returning...
Read moreA friend and I decided to have lunch at Schooners. The service was prompt and efficient, with a self-seating option available on the large covered patio or at the spacious bar area.
The menu boasted an extensive selection, and having been here multiple times, I can vouch for the excellence of their offerings. The traditional hot wings stood out as a personal favorite – generously sized, meaty, and bursting with flavor.
Schooners doesn't disappoint when it comes to beverages either, with a diverse range of beers on tap, twisted teas, and other drink options. Their enchiladas and Bloody Mary's are particularly noteworthy.
The consistently friendly and efficient service adds to the overall positive experience. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, attracting a crowd looking to unwind, enjoy good drinks, and catch a game on TV. Personally, I find the patio seating especially enjoyable.
In terms of value, Schooners exceeds expectations with its combination of generous portions, top-notch service, and reasonable prices. It's a place where quality food meets excellent service, making it a fantastic...
