Lorena D’s Mexican — Restaurant in Santa Clarita

First and foremost, for those of you not aware- Lorena D's was formerly 'Betitos' which was a successful restaurant and one of the oldest full service Mexican dining option this side of the Santa Clarita valley. The restaurant was recently bought by Lorena, who for the last 25 years was the head server at Betitos and one of the main reasons many people returned.

Anyone who has ever opened any type of business must understand that there are going to be learning curves and hiccups along the way. I think Lorena and her staff have done an exceptional job at handling the overwhelming support of customers wanting to grab a seat at the new Lorena D's.

Yes, the wait to be seated may take some time, Yes it may take a few extra minutes for the kitchen to pump out orders, but the same thing has happened to me at major franchise restaurants that are fully supported with dozens of servers and kitchen staff! One thing is certain- the second you get sat down and eat their food everything will be incredible. Our server Sylvia was very sweet, accommodating, and accurate with her order taking!

If you are a true supporter of small locally owned family run businesses- then you would give this restaurant an earnest review given the circumstances of them only being open for 2 weeks. The food is delicious, the margaritas are fantastic, The ambiance is very inviting, and the cherry on top is seeing Lorena go from employee to owner. Absolutely inspiring. My father wanted to try her food since ownership changed. He said previously he and my mother dinned there while under the old ownership but didn't care for it because rice was not served with their meals. His words were...."What Mexican restaurant serves your meal with beans and no rice?" LOL So, he started reading reviews about Lorena and they were all great so he asked me to order food for take out as he isn't feeling good to go out to eat. So of course I did. I ordered Chile Relleno's for both my father and I plus he also wanted a beef taco. I also ordered just a beef taco al a carte for my mother. I have to say, we being of Mexican decent we know what really good, true, Mexican food is and not only was it amazingly delicious, Her portions are enormous and her prices are incredibly reasonable. She could probably charge more for what she serves. Moreover, when I went to pick up our food, she greeted me, was super friendly and I told her I was picking up food for my father since he was not up to coming in. She thanked me for giving them a try and invited me back to come in for a drink, I totally recommend Lorena D's. You get great food and great and friendly service. We ordered the Party Tray for a gathering of 10, and it was a HUGE hit! The variety was perfect—something for everyone. The mini bean & cheese burritos were warm, cheesy, and comforting. The chicken taquitos and chimichangas (cut in half, so plenty to go around) were crispy, golden, and packed with flavor. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, so much great flavor. The potato tacos were a nice surprise—hearty and delicious, they reminded me of my dear mom’s tacos😍 The mini hard-shell chicken tacos were super delish and added the perfect crunch. The portions were generous and exactly as described, with plenty of food to feed our group of 10. The tray also came with 8oz each of salsa, guacamole, and sour cream—fresh, flavorful, and the ideal accompaniments. Everything was neatly packed, easy to serve, and displayed beautifully, until we were ready to dig in. If you’re hosting a party, family get-together, or office lunch, this Party Tray is a winner.
