Mr. Fries Man — Restaurant in Santa Fe Springs

If I could give zero stars, I would.

I came to Mr. Fries Man expecting a quality experience—especially with the prices being charged. I mean, the place is literally called Mr. Fries Man, so naturally, you'd expect them to take fries seriously. But no. What I got was frozen fries—the kind you can buy in bulk at a grocery store—passed off as some “premium base” for toppings. Seriously?

And then came the real kicker: the owner's response.

I left an honest review on Yelp calling out the use of frozen fries and expressing my disappointment, and instead of owning up to it or addressing the concern respectfully, Miguel, the owner, responded like a child with a chip on his shoulder. Telling people to “bring a scale next time”? That’s your customer service strategy? Sarcasm and defensiveness?

It’s funny how quick he is to defend frozen fries while charging $15+ per plate. If the toppings are what justifies the price, then maybe you should rename the business—because what you’re serving doesn’t live up to anything in the name "Mr. Fries Man."

Let’s be real: the aesthetic is cute, and the food looks good on Instagram, but once you taste it, you realize it’s just overpriced carnival food. And judging by how often you run sales, either you know it’s overpriced too, or business isn’t going as great as you pretend it is.

I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after that disrespectful response from Miguel, I’m done. You don’t talk down to paying customers because they expected better—you take the criticism, improve, and move on. But clearly, this place is more focused on clout than quality.

The worst chili cheese fries I've ever had, by quite a large margin. Watery bean chili and barely any cheese. I'm guessing this is because it's the cheapest item on the menu and they really don't want you to order it. Do they know they're right next to Douglas Burger, who does a much larger portion of better chili cheese fries at nearly half the price?

They really want you to spurge on their overpriced $20-$30 options, but not even those are that great. I got the lemon crab fries for about $30 and was incredibly disappointed. Proteins are much skimpier than in the photos you see on the page, and the flavor just wasn't there. I was excited when I saw this place opening around the corner from me, but now I'm just disappointed we didn't get something good. I won't be back.

EDIT: Check out how many of these reviews are from accounts with 1-2 reviews. Obviously fake reviews to make this place look better than it is. I should've known that this place would be trash when they pull stuff like this. This also explains why the pictures they post look much better than what you actually get. From the moment I walked in, I knew this spot was going to hit different. The entrance was decked out with an eye-catching animated fry guy posters that instantly set a fun, welcoming vibe. Let me just say, the cleanliness? Top-tier. The entire restaurant, especially the restrooms, was spotless. That kind of attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed.

I was greeted right away by friendly staff, which made the experience even better. I ordered the Bacon Chicken Ranch Fries and bone-in wings with BBQ sauce on the side. And wow, they did not disappoint. Every bite was bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and totally crave-worthy. Even my toddler was vibing with the wings! No small feat!

Major shoutout to the staff who went above and beyond. They even played cartoons for my toddler so we could enjoy our meal in peace. That level of care and thoughtfulness in a fast food setting? It seriously hit different. It almost felt like we were dining in a sit-down restaurant with how accommodating and attentive the staff were.

This place is going into my rotation, especially for game days or fight nights. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service? Say less....
