This is a family owned restaurant of 22 years. It was clean, nice area with parking. The restaurant was nice, welcoming and bright. John, one of the owners was really friendly and welcoming. The prices seemed a little higher than what I would pay for some of their foods, but the portions are good. We got their nacho fries, because I love asada fries. They were very large, enough for 2 to 3 people to share and he said we could mix meat. We just got asada, but they were OK. Their fries are thicker, but I felt with the fries that way, the nachos felt dry. They had beans, meat, Pico, guac, cheese, and creme, but I was adding more salsa to it. It reminds me of Pepes. Not bad, but I prefer Albert's on Firestone in Norwalk.
My sister had their Baja fish taco and grilled fish one as well. She said they were disappointing too. They looked very large and we got the plate with rice and beans. She definitely had better.
We ordered their mixed ceviche and it was mostly shrimp, imitation crab, and tomato pieces. I know my ceviche I make at home isn't super authentic, but theirs tasted less authentic than mine. I would not get it again.
I still gave it a high rating because the food wasn't bad, I guess we had really high expectations when we were wowed by how friendly John was and the place looked so nice. Would I go again? If I was in the area, I would come in and try something else. There were a few other things we didn't get that caught my eye. Like their brochette and seafood soup. I wouldn't go there for their asada nachos, but I'm willing to try some of their other things.
They serve alcohol and have a pickled papa and carrot...
Read moreThe second I walked in, I was greeted by the fresh smell of lime and cilantro. The atmosphere was clean, warm, and inviting. Decor was bright, colorful, and cohesive. It wasn't overwhelming, instead it felt like a place I'd visit while on vacation. The staff wore masks đ· at all times, and were incredibly friendly. This is a family-owned business. I think it shows in their hospitality as well as the love in their food. My order was taken in a timely fashion, and ready in no time. After a 30 minute drive back home, my food was still hot đ„. It was packed with extreme care; no spills or smashed food. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, my favorite and a MUST each visit. The best I have ever had in my life anytime anywhere. It's what I compare all other cocktails to. Pescado Dorado wins every time, no question. The shrimp is clean, fresh, and flavorful. Each ingredient is a perfect complement to the shrimp, which is truly the main event. The burritos are absolutely beautiful; Instagrammable. Beyond that, they are spectacularly delicious. They are stuffed with the tastiest ingredients and everything works well together. In my opinion, beans or rice are often fillers at other restaurants. But the flavorful beans and rice taste so good with the juicy, tender meats. Combined with the practically drinkable salsas, each bite had my eyes rolling back in my head. After this meal I need a cigarette; and I...
Read moreI go with a group or by myself. Doesn't matter which family member is working; as a local foodie, I've always felt satisfied with my food, appreciate their home cooked flavors & atmosphere, & am always leaving this spot with a smile due to their wonderful service, authentic flavors, & large portions. You definitely get your $$ worth here!! Stop by & check it out! You may see me in here, randomly, on any day of the week, but especially for their daily specials: Monday Micheladas made with their homemade recipe, NOT the bottled stuff. I've taken it to parties & it's always a hit.
I first tried this delicious food at a catered wedding, over a decade ago! Wonderful presentation & spectacular service in catering, taco man style events! I've hired this restaurant for 3 events & will never stop using them as a favorite amongst my guests. Several of my friends have even booked their own catered party through them, too!
Thank you to Pescado Dorado's entire staff for such great experiences every time we have your food!
