If you're wondering why this place is so deserted lately, within the past 2 weeks they've raised prices to where they're now comparable to similar items at local sit-down restaurants AND they now charge extra for even 1 container of salsa (which they used to automatically give for free). If you're looking for convenience, there's a taco bell 2 blocks away. If you're looking for anything else, get take out from a sit down place, where it tends to come with free NM chile rather than having to bring your own hot sauce or pay extra to put some salsa on their bland food.
Wish you could write multiple 1 star reviews if it has been years, haha. I keep coming because it's so convenient to where I live, but today was my official last visit. Not worth it anymore in any way.
*COVID update- employees here do NOT wear masks, and are actively making it harder to social distance (having a maskless individual insist you give her your order rather than letting you order at the speaker). It's a shame because they'd been doing better at getting orders right lately :(
They seem genuinely uninformed that wearing only a face shield is not the same as wearing a mask. Would consider coming back here if they'd update their policies, otherwise will avoid till a vaccine.*
Not sure what's happened to this place over the past couple of years, because it used to be really good, and now it's extremely hit or miss. I always order one of two regular orders, and lately they've had employees who can't figure out what I'm talking about, even though I order it all the time. That coupled with super long wait times. And the worst part is that they wait until they actually give you the wrong food to let you know they don't know what you were trying to order. I'm posting this review because I just sat with my window rolled down in the pouring rain, arguing with an employee about something I just ordered last week which he claims is now not on their menu. Writing this review because I'm cold, wet, tired, hungry and I've had enough. I used to love this place, but I'm now really happy there's a Chipotle going in right around the corner so I can get good tacos in my neighborhood without dealing with this...
Read moreOne of my favorite spots in town for burritos. Bit inconvenient that it is currently drive through only, as the line gets long during peak times, but they are still usually pretty fast. It's always seemed clean, and the crew members are friendly and great. My thoughts on most of the vegetarian items (other than breakfast):
-Veggie burrito 5/5 This is what got me to love burrito spot in the first place, with an excellent salsa that makes it a lot tastier than other bean burritos. There are off days, however, and it's a bit soupy sometimes. Easily made vegan by asking for no dairy, or for no cheese or sour cream -Bean Tacos 5/5 I wish these came with the same salsa from the veggie burrito, since they are a bit plain. But, they taste freshly fried and deliver a satisfying crunch. -Toreados 5/5 Could use some salt, but this leaves the seasoning to you. Exactly what they say they are, nice grilled peppers at a good price and ready to mix with other things
-Cheese rollups 3 or 4/5 These are fine, with a nice guacamole sauce on top, but I do not think they are worth the price, as they are fairly small and not very filling. -Cheesecake 3 or 4/5 It's just a premade plan cheesecake, but that's pretty tasty, and something I have never seen out and about before. I do wish they still had tres leches cakes though
-Enchilada plate 3/5 Exactly what you would expect, with beans, good rice, and three rolled cheese enchiladas. I think worth the price, but without good tasting cheese, this is nothing special. -Chile cheese fries 3/5 You get a lot of them, and the green chile is good, but the fries are very ordinary and the cheese is generic nacho cheese sauce -Bean burrito 3/5 you have to pay extra for cheese, and on its own it's fairly boring refried beans and a bit dry as well -Chile relleno burrito & chile relleno plate 3/5 I've only had these once, so maybe it was an offday, but the breading gets soggy, and the cheese filling is not anything particularly flavorful.
-Nachos 2/5 Generic nacho cheese sauce and refried beans. Certainly filling, but nothing great -Bean Tostada 2/5 Nothing wrong with this, but I feel like it's not worth the price, as it is doesn't...
Read moreSo the day we went here my husband and I we usually order the same as always which is a chorizo burrito and a carne asada burrito. We always buy the extra red salsa. Anyways while I was pouring my salsa onto my burrito I see something red about to come out. So I checked to see what it was and it was a red rubber band inside the salsa. How sad is that. So then I continue eating and while I was chewing you know you can always feel a Hair well I check to see and I pull out a black white hair out. How disgusting is that? This place has always been our go-to every time because it's so good. Well not this time it was a very bad experience and I go and ask the front person at the register to speak to a manager and no one was there she told me. So I told her what I found for the second time being there at one sitting and she had the nerve to tell me there was no one with white hair here. So I just looked at her and told her well I don't have white hair my hair is black so how does it magically appear in this burrito. Wow I couldn't believe her. Just be careful what you get from there sometimes...
