Very pleased to find a dining room open for a date with my wife(the other Indian restaurant in Santa Fe still closed even though Covid restrictions have lifted)
Fresh ingredients, Excellent service and delicious - way above average Indian food! The Garlic Naan has a buttery oven roasted delicious crispy flavor - it reminds me of Burmese Naan (my absolute favorite) more than the boring doughy variety often found elsewhere. The samosas are delicious and crisp and they include three sauces where normally you only see the tamarind and mint...they also included the traditional yoghurt.
What made it a home run though was the Lamb Korma. Many Indian places struggle to make a Korma sauce well...with some other places the Korma is nearly indistinguishable from Tikka Masala. This Korma sauces was 10/10 - it was so good I ate part of it like a fine French bisque, spooning up the sauce. The Lamb was also tender - tasted as though it was organic.
The service was also A+++
The portions are large enough for 2 people to share or order multiple entrees to get a sense of a larger palette and eat family style.
Pedro our server spoiled us with high class service that made me think about our time at resorts in Tulum, Mexico recently where the customer service is world's better than in the US.
The exterior of the building looks humble but the inside has been renovated tastefully and everything appears clean and...

I recently visited India House in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Our order included two curries with the same spice level (3 out of 5), but the execution was inconsistent. While one curry was perfect, the other was excessively spicy to the point where it was practically inedible.
When we brought this to the attention of the staff, they addressed the issue by simply diluting the overly spicy curry with water. This not only felt like a makeshift solution but also raised concerns about the overall quality of their food preparation. Modifying a dish in such a manner seemed both unprofessional and disrespectful to the culinary craft.
The service was lacking, and the handling of our complaint left much to be desired. As someone who appreciates a good dining experience, I would caution others, especially those seeking authentic Indian cuisine, to reconsider visiting India House in Santa Fe.
Overall, my visit was marred by inconsistency, subpar service, and a disappointing response to a valid concern. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively to enhance the overall dining experience for...
Read moreTonight, my husband and I returned to India House for the first time since the start of the pandemic. The servers were as friendly as ever, and the environment was very nice. That's what the two stars are all about. We came early, and were the first to be seated at a booth that came up to the tops of our chests. My husband is 6'1" and I'm at least 5'5". I would imagine a shorter person would have sat with their head beneath the table. My husband faced a window that required him to wear a ball cap throughout the meal. I ordered a glass of house wine, which was a large pour with a gnat doing the backstroke in it. I managed to remove the little fellow. The food was terrible and expensive. The simple tandoori chicken was dried out and tasteless. The dal (yellow lentils), for $14.95, was a soupy mess. We paid extra for rice and naan. My husband managed to burn his finger on the tandoori plate - his fault, not the server's (although a warning would have helped). For $65, including tip, we had a truly terrible meal. There were plenty of other people in the restaurant, and I hope their experience was better than ours. I doubt...
