When they first opened we said "We have to try this place!" Then the pandemic hit and we isolated for over a year. we finally went in and OMG the food is SO good! The Dolmas are huge! The Spartan Pork sandwich was crunchy, tasty, crisp fresh veggies and OH so yummy pork! The staff were friendly and welcoming, AND we ran into some old friends who were there at the same time. WE WILL BE BACK! JUNE 2022 We're BAAA-AAACK! If you have a honing for excellent Greek food, generously portioned and done to perfection, THIS is your place! My Beloved and I dined there, today to celebrate my birthday. I had the Lamb Souvlaki, which comes with a crisp Greek salad and a side. I chose the dolmas. Two large skewers of tender lamb interspersed with roasted onions. Two dipping sauces, one with a delicious lemony tang and the other a delightful yogurt and minced parsley confection that just made the heavenly lamb that much more celestial. The dolmas were huge! I enjoyed every last bite! My Beloved had the felafels and lemon soup (Nope! Not gonna try to spell it!) and her meal was also delicious! She gave me a felafel. It was rolled out as a large patty, and crunchy! These were NOT felafels left sitting on a warming table, not at all! Crisp, flavorful and with the same yogurt sauce as I was enjoying. Again, portions generous enough that she took some of her meal home in a 'people bag'. Then... to celebrate me turning seventy (I have to do this more often!) we had baklava! I was expecting a little square. Nope! This was a triangular slice again GENEROUS! and served without them singing or making any fanfare! Thank you! We had a wonderful meal, relaxed and chatted, and the whole shebang was around sixty bucks! NOT bad, at all, considering restaurant prices now days! The parking.... not the best, BUT on a busy street, right next to a motel (LampLighter Inn) it could've been a lot worse.
In short, I ADORE, and have eaten Greek food in Hollywood, Los Angeles, Albuquerque AND San Francisco, and this restaurant DEFINITELY ranks high on the list! Definitely a five star experience! Opened just before the Pandemic hit, it remained in business, and this is WHY! One...

Yamas is a Greek restaurant with a capital “G.” There are items on the menu we had not seen or tasted before. My big Greek salad with Lamb (absolutely delicious) came with caper berries, something I had not heard of before, let alone tasted. Caper Berries are green and tear drop shaped with a 3 inch stem. (At first I thought it was a big olive.) The taste is briny and they are full of tiny, juicy seeds with a unique mouthfeel. We also ordered the Orzo Salad that came with a traditional Greek Ladolemono Vinaigrette. There are an array of side dishes. We just ordered one, Greek Fries (short and slender topped with feta and parsley) and the hot and zesty Red Tzatziki Sauce (tomato, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic, cilantro, parsley and olive oil) for dipping. Dessert was a shared Revani (semolina cake baked in almond, orange and rosewater, topped with a pistachio crumble.) Our beverage was unique to northern New Mexico, Zia Pinon Cola. Kola nuts are blended and brewed with Pińon Nuts harvested from the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and combined with lime juice, vanilla and cinnamon. It makes for a refreshing taste. There are many, many more traditional and unique dishes on the menu. We will be back and back again. Final tip: Yamas’ exterior belies its menu. It is located right on Cerrillos Road. But once inside the noise is conversation level (68 dB) and the background music is enjoyable. Surprisingly it is Counter Order with no waiting. Service...
Read moreI love this place!
I've placed many orders for takeout both through their online service and over the phone, and everything is always perfect.
I often grab dinner from them because we live in a travel trailer and it can be challenging to cook meals. But I usually do this while running errands in the afternoon, and we don't eat until we'll after 9pm because my husband works 12 hour shifts at a hospital. Every time I tell the staff this they take great care in packaging components separately so that when we sit down to eat nothing is soggy.
It's funny, I can't decide which I like better, their food or how carefully they put everything together; they even use painter's tape to secure various items for transport.
As for their food... I have never been disappointed and my husband loves their Gyros! They have an orzo salad and a cauliflower and bulgar wheat salad I especially like, and the dolmas are a favorite. If you get the rotisserie chicken (on the smaller side portion wise), I recommend getting it with the Apollo sauce, which reminds me of chimichurri.
Everything is always fresh, the staff is super friendly, their attention to detail is outstanding, and the food is very tasty. They even have a drive up window to...
