This rating should be worse than "terrible" honestly. Back in June I had booked a room w/ 4 Queen beds as there was a group of 8 of us coming and we wanted to stay in one location, together, and also have a pool and hot tub available. At 11am THE MORNING OF MY RESERVATION I was notified by the hotel that the room I booked was not available and that instead we would be placed in 2 Queen Suites w/ 2 Queen beds and the rooms would be side by side. I expressed my frustration to the woman on the phone and explained that the whole point of the trip was for us all to be together as we do this once per year. She apologized but reassured me we would be happy in these 2 rooms. From the moment that we pulled up to the property I should have known it wasn't going to be a good situation, but ya never judge a book by its cover, right? The premises had trash everywhere, the parking lot was in horrible shape, there were people camped out outside the building, etc. ||1. Upon entering the lobby, I immediately noticed the sign on the pool/hot tub door that said it was closed. The first question I asked was if the pool was going to be closed all weekend and I was told yes. No pool. No hot tub. ||2. I proceeded to move forward w/ checking in and gave Donald at the front desk my name and explained the whole phone call conversation that I had received just hours earlier. He simply said "ok" and proceeded by asking for my ID and payment method. I handed him my ID and my card, signed the reservation agreement, and was handed the room keys. Very minimal communication from him at all except he did tell us where the room was located.||3. As soon as we entered the building our rooms were in, the smell was overwhelming. Mildew, trash, cigarettes, etc. The hallways were very dark and the carpets disgusting. We get to the first room and open the door and there was only ONE queen bed and it was NOT a suite. Didn't spend but only a minute in that room as it wasn't going to work for our group of 8 so no need to explore any further. Head to the room next door and this room did have 2 queen beds in it, but I'm not sure how it could be considered any type of suite. I've never seen a room in the condition this room was in in my life. I swear someone was pulling a prank on our group. I sat at the desk to call back down to speak to Donald at the front desk to let him know that we have 8 people and that we were only provided with 3 beds. He told me that the rooms he gave me were the only options available. I'm still not sure how this is possible when I made a reservation months prior. Mind you the entire time I'm trying to talk to him the cord to the phone continuously falls out and I keep losing connection with him. I told Donald the issue with the phone and that I would just come back to the front desk to speak to him. ||4. While I was talking to Donald, another girl in my group was just checking out the bed situation, and when she pulled the sheets back there were rings of what looked like urine on one set of sheets. The other bed also had spots on the sheets. The fridge had dried food caked on the insides. The couch was filthy and stained. I still can't believe the condition of this room, and that this is real life. ||5. Went back to the lobby to speak to Donald and explained that there aren't enough beds for our group of 8 and showed him the pics of the beds and the condition of the room. He responded with "I can have the bedding changed for you" and "that's the only rooms available". He didn't offer an I'm sorry or anything. I then again stated that there was not enough room for all 8 of us with only having 3 beds, and then he told me that the couch (which was visibly filthy) pulls out into a bed. I then explained to him that people who are coming here from out of state, and do not want to sleep on a pull-out couch which is why we booked the room with 4 beds. Plenty of other hotels also had the option to fit us all if we utilized the pull-out couch but that is not ideal if not needed. At this point I asked Donald for a refund, which I was denied and was told that they DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS. How? Beyond the inexcusable cleanliness of the room, I was not given what I had booked to begin with.||||Mind you I have NEVER in my life left a negative review. This though...there was no seeing the positives in any part of it and then to be denied my money back when what I BOOKED was not what I was provided. What I was called and told I would be getting in place of what I had booked was also NOT provided. I can't get over the condition of the room and beds that we were expected to sleep on regardless of whether the sheets were changed or not. You can't "unsee" what that bed looked like. The housekeepers were walking around with 6-packs of Smirnoff on their cleaning carts as well, which probably explains why the rooms aren't getting cleaned. Clarion has forever lost my business. I keep reading responses to peoples negative reviews that these issues will be addressed...there's no proof of any issues being addressed. How is this even ok? How do you feel it's ok to STEAL peoples money? How is this hotel...
Read moreWhere do I even begin? First of all, you're getting catfished by the photos. They hid everything nasty and unappealing behind the landscaping and low angles. The photos of the rooms had to have only been a handful of rooms in the whole building. We arrived at the hotel and the entire Days Inn sign was on the ground. The paint on the stucco was peeling and the entire place looked rundown and abandoned. Finding the entrance was difficult, as their front shares doors with several other businesses. Once we got in, it did look fairly cute. Clearly a little dated, but a cute lobby nonetheless. We get our key for our room and head up. Room 240 was disgusting. There was a gross, candy-like substance sprayed up the wall behind the headboard. The lampshades looked like they went 2 rounds with Mike Tyson and lost. The table in the room took up a majority of the walking space. Craters (no exaggeration, they were craters about the size of a golf ball) in the walls everywhere. Cracks in the door. We could clearly see daylight straight through the top, bottoms, and sides. Busted AC that actually made our room warmer than it was outside. But really the final straw was the GO PRO MOUNT that was slapped on to the headboard of this king size bed. We went to the front desk and I can't remember the young lady's name, but she was very kind, but alarmingly seemed unphased by what we were telling her about our room. She did put us in a new room, double queen. We go into that room and one of the beds still has old nosebleed blood on the sheets. There were short, curly hairs that can only be assumed to be pubes in the corner of the shower. The wifi is also 100% totally public, so expect to see a bunch of random people hanging out in the courtyard near your room at all hours of the day and night for the free, very public wifi. For breakfast, you can expect to see the front desk attendant's hair straightener and makeup bag set up and turned on in the lobby bathroom. Your coffee will be lukewarm in from one urn, blistering from the other. Your food options are Dollar Store muffins, a granola bar, or a Dollar Store pack of donettes. If you're lucky, there will be some juice left. And the attached restaurant doesn't open until 11:00, so if you were thinking of grabbing breakfast there before heading out, think again.
But the reservation was clear that there was a no-refund policy for this hotel. So it was either sleep in the non-bloody bed or be out $215.
Stay as far away from this hotel as you can. Service gets 2 stars because the evening desk attendant was very kind and accommodating. Location gets 4 stars because we were in town for a funeral and this hotel was 10 minutes from...
Read moreThis place has good bones. Yes, its glory days are in the past. But there are some positives. For the paid I paid per night the value is there. You get all the basics. Yes, various items are in varying levels of disrepair but they still work.
For example, I found the room to smell musty upon entering. This has more to do with the age of the building structure and the fact that the PTAC filters have never been cleaned. Pulled the filters and gave them a clean and that helped immensely. It also got rid of a buzzing noise from the filter getting sucked too close to the blower.
The door locks are not trustworthy. You have to open and close the door multiple times to make sure it stays closed. But once inside you can turn the deadbolt and latch and nobody is getting in.
The decor and furniture is dated but it’s functional and reminds me of the old glory days of Vegas.
The shower curtain rods are sagging and some of the rings on the cloth are torn but they did the job. The water pressure is on the gentle side BUT and this is a huge BUT, THEY HAVE SOFT WATER!!!!! That’s luxury. Not even the brand new Marriott SpringHill I have stayed at have that.
The beds are serviceable. I got lucky and was upgraded to a double full beds. Once was firm and the other was juuuuuuust right. They are small and they are not queens so snuggle if four adults are trying to pack a double room.
The TV is only 720p and LCD so it doesn’t get bright. Close the curtains during the day and it’s fine. The benefit is during the night it is easy to adjust using the side buttons so it’s not like looking at a flashlight like the new LED TV’s. They also have the HDMI plug out front so it’s easy to plug in an Apple TV, Roku, etc.
I wish the desk in the double room was a tad bigger. At least the chair was clean and in good condition. There were multiple outlets to plug all my devices into so that was convenient.
The lights seem to have different bulbs and different color warmth. Bonus was that one of the lights next to the bed was really dim but it was great for bedtime.
The location is great. It’s quiet at night and easy to get to most of Santa Fe with ease.
I found no problems with checking in. If you want to find a problem you will find it in your biases.
Overall this is a great place to get some work done with the speedy WiFi. Or a casual rest stop to get you where you need to go. Or just a place to hit the emergency stop and get away from it all. You will find hospitality where...
