I would give this place five stars; however parking was scarce. It's nestled in a neighborhood, so be watchful so you don't miss it. Like Guy Fieri said, "...this place is the real deal!" 😁 I highly recommend Tuneup Cafe... but also highly recommend you get there early for their dinner service. I went on a Tuesday night, shortly before 6pm and within 30 min., the 5 remaining empty tables got snatched up and they had about 3 (small) groups of people waiting for tables. Anywho! So, I ordered the El Salvadoran Combo (selections: Flank Steak Pupusa, Tamale with Chicken, and House Salad), added a Chile Rellenos, and ordered a Creme Brulee for dessert. YUM! Absolutely amazing!! And yes...I would do it all over again! Sure would! And if wasn't shameful to drive all the way from Albuquerque to Santa Fe just to eat there again...knowing my flight back to DC departs at 8:30 in the morning...I would've went back tonight. My selections were delish...just full of flavor in every single bite! I left there satisfied with the attentiveness of my server (and the other servers that checked on me) and especially my meal! It's just too bad that I don't live in Santa Fe or any other surrounding area. If I did, I would be another one of their regulars! For sure!! ¡Buen provecho!

Out of towner review: We working in Santa Fe for the day, many of the top names for dinner were slammed. We came across Tune-Up as a last ditch effort and weren’t disappointed. The staff were nice, professional, and were able to accommodate us and an infant no problem. They also had a wide assortment of vegetarian options. Here’s what we ordered: - Chips and Guac (nothing amazing, wish the quantity of chips was greater) - Lamb Fajitas (something I never had before and it was quite delicious. Only recommendation would be to provide more than a single tortilla) - Salvadoran Combo (great tamale and pupusa special, quite a large plate so be ready to eat) - Mango Chile Margarita (a well made cocktail) We also ordered a few deserts to go: - Tres Leches cake (very delicious, recommend) - Blueberry Crumble (a little too tart, and with the overpowering of cinnamon, just seemed too like too strong of a desert) - Chocolate Chantilly (the chocolate didn’t seem to go well) Overall, we really enjoyed our meal. Prices were very reasonable, food was good and hot, and the staff were great. We recommend you stop by and give them a try!

We were excited to try this place since it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. The idea of home cooked food with a Salvadorian flavor was intriguing. So, let's start with the place. Super cute. Super crowded, but with personality. This isn't a table service place, so we order at the counter and were given a number. I had the flank steak pupusas, the hubs had the chicken tamale. The do serve beer and wine but we opted for the homemade limonada, which was delish. Now, the food. My pupusas were good, not phone Guy Fierrie and tell him he was right, but tasty. I wouldn't crave them. The pickled cabbage and beets that came with it were a no go for both of us. The hubs liked his tamale but again, nothing to phone home about. He's Colombian and was looking forward to a tamale close to his own since Mexican tamales are different, so he was bit disappointed. Mexican tamales are my jam, but this one taste bland and undercooked to me. I think the banana leaf cooking just doesn't cook the masa enough for my taste. So, the verdict was it was decent, wish we could have had something tastier, but now we won't wonder.

I have never in my life ever wrote a review for restaurants, but honestly if I could give it less than 1 star I would. I was showing my family who weren’t from NM, Santa Fe and I wanted to try something local with them. With all the “good reviews” and “oh wow Guy has been here from that show” we figured it has to be good! SO WRONG. I was so embarrassed! The moment we walked in, the girl at counter told us “the menu is behind you” when we were literally staring at the menu chalkboard in front with the menu! We figured ok I guess maybe there’s more on the online menu? It was completely her tone. I went out to grab a table for everyone and when we all sat down, mind you there’s 4 of us, they were like “man she was really rude” and I thought so to. She was snippy and impatient for no reason when one of the girls had ask for suggestions. Order took 60+ mins we were starving, and there wasn’t even a lot of people there because we were eating around 3:00 pm. To make it worst, the 2 people who went in after us a solid 30 mins got there food before us. When the food came out, my burger that was well done was BURNT black, all of our fries were so crispy that it looked and tasted like it was refried and sitting out like chips, one of the barbacoa tacos tasted weird she barely ate it, and the buns for the hamburger were toasted like rocks!! We didn’t even say anything because 1) we are nice and with their attitude already we didn’t even want to bother. That has got to be the worst experience food and service I’ve ever had. And my husband and I eat out all the time! What a waste of money! The worst part is that we had guest with us! Oh also did I mention, I asked one of the waiters “oh is this ketchup” in the red bottle, he said “yes” bunch of lies, it was literally hot sauce. My little brother put hot sauce all over his burger and when we saw that it was liquidity and it was kind of orange red, I was like “that’s definitely not ketchup, that’s hot sauce.” How this place even has good reviews is honestly beyond me. Makes me so angry...

Tune-Up? More like a TURN-OFF. Food- mediocre at best. Over seared hamburger on a dry and stale sesame bun, so over greased that the bun bottom was now brown & soggy, not brioche bun! Pizza was ok by a 5yr old standard, but not quality brick oven pizza as claimed. Saw this restaurant as a Santa Fe fave & on DDD. All I can say is the current DDD rating should be for Disappointment! Disappointment!! Disappointment!!! Service- don’t get me started. First of all, my husband and I both work in service industries and never have we experienced anything like this. Sticky tables, water with no ice brought over, waitress with an attitude & to top it off their credit card machine wasn’t working due to internet being out. Understandable but you need a better back up plan like PayPal, Venmo, etc. than to ask customers to allow their CC info to be written down. It started when we arrived and were told to sit wherever, we picked part of the booth area, because its convenient for kiddos. Pretty sure its never been re-padded, upholstered or even cleaned. After we ordered and had our salads, we overheard another waitress tell someone they were only taking cash or they could write the CC number down. Seriously? After eating & asking for the check, our attitude waitress insisted we were originally told, next came out another female who wanted to argue that she herself told us when this was not the case. Now comes the owner- a little more understanding but now we have a lot of commotion with all eyes on us- the out of towner’s from Texas who just wanted to try the local flare. Fast forward 15-20 minutes for my husband to have to leave me sitting here with our 5year old for him to find an ATM, get cash & come back, no one to come clear the plates or look us in the eye, offer a refill or anything, we can definitely say- SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE OF POOR SERVICE & MEDIOCRE FOOD & GO...

We may have very high expectations, we visit a lot of breakfast restaurants and are very picky. Tune-Up Cafe was highly recommended by our AirBnB host, so we were excited to visit.

We visited twice in hopes our experience the first time was unusual, but unfortunately we found similar inconsistencies both visits.

My wife enjoyed the eggs benedict our first visit, and was very excited to get them again. She also ordered the chai tea, which was also very good. Our second visit, the benedict was substantially different - and very much a let-down, barely adequate. The eggs weren't very good, the spinach was very different - not at all tasty. She only finished half. It was a strange experience seeing such a large quality difference between visits.

I had the Basic the first visit, which was mis-delivered with scrambled eggs vs. over-easy. To their credit, they corrected it without being asked - very nice. Unfortunately both sets of eggs were merely passable. Potatoes were cold and lacking much flavor on both delivered plates. For the second visit, I skipped the basic, picking the pancakes instead. They were light, fluffy, and overall decent - but not exceptional.

We were excited to both get chai our second visit - but we received something different, perhaps green tea, and the water for one of our glasses was lukewarm.

Overall, we had high hopes, and we visited twice hoping our first experience was unique, but we simply...
