Used to be a go-to but since COVID, it’s clear they’re in over their head, or they have a customer service problem. We ordered our food for pickup at 11:45, ready by 12:15. 12:15 comes, and we get the notification our food is ready. Talk to the counter rep, he says our food should be up in a bit. 10 minutes pass, nothing. Wait another 10 minutes.
Meanwhile during this, another woman had been waiting an hour for her food. Turns out her order was cancelled... twice. She eventually gets her food, but her experience makes me think something’s suspect. Queue another 30 minutes of asking where my order is despite getting notified it was ready.
I eventually bring up the woman’s order being cancelled twice, wondering if the same thing happened to mine, only to get lip that they have a lot of GrubHub and Postmates orders. Nearly an hour passes from when my order was supposed to be ready. Staff goes to check on it multiple times, only to hear nothing from them.
Eventually, there must’ve been a shift change because a different lady is working the counter. Now I understand these are unusual circumstances. GrubHub drivers can be impatient. You’re trying to follow safety protocols and social distance. I get that. But multiple people had dined in the back of the restaurant, eaten their food, and left before I even received my order. It took bringing this up to the counter lady to figure out what was up.... only to learn my order never went through.
They put in a rush order, and we eventually get our food 10 minutes later. And they throw in some desert waffle and some random waffle entree for free. Nice I guess, but not something we really wanted.
Ultimately, Bru’s food is great. Their chicken and waffles (Dwight’s Special) are delicious . Ranch dressing is excellent. Honestly, no complaints about the food. But this whole pickup debacle really soured me on the restaurant. In spite of their food, I can’t recommend the restaurant any more based on my experience. I tend to be understanding, but when it takes an hour to address my complaints, I don’t want to go to your...
Read moreI came here for late breakfast that basically was lunch. A friend and I arrived here a little after 12pm on a Sunday and got lucky getting a parking spot behind the resturaunts designated parking for patrons. When you arrive you write down your own name and then the Host calls your name to seat you. My friend and I were hungry so we didn't care what seating we got, and we ended up received an outside table. Now the weather was great, but next time I think inside seating preference would be better for two reasons. Reason 1, the view is of Whilsire Blvd. Which is not very full of picturesque sights. Reason 2, the tables are on a slant because of the way the sidewalk is paved so when eating you are slightly leaning toward the street at a tilt which is more annoying than anything but not the resturaunts fault, they didn't pave the sidewalk. When we sat, we waited about 10 minutes before we got menus, but a fantastic first impression, but out Host graciously apologized and brought us menus and promised up a comp dish. We ordered and were incredibly happy with our food once it arrived. I got thier chicken and waffles huevos rancheros style. I was skeptical at first, but it was delicious all of the flavors were so good and so well constructed. I finished my entire plate much to the surprise of the waiter who was teasing me because I asked for the eggs scrambled since I am not a fan of runny yolk. Then at the end when my friend and I were so full we thought we would burst, the Host followed through and brought us out thier signature churro waffle plate. This waffle plate was absolutely incredible. Overall great experience, the Host and Waiter were both really great , food was amazing, and I will be...
Read moreHonestly, I don’t think I saw this place at its full potential, but I will give you an overview of my personal experience. Hopefully you can find It useful.
Food: I stumbled upon Bru’s Wiffle while looking for a restaurant with French toast. This place has a number of French toast options. I chose the Honey Poppers French Toast. These are bite-size crispy chicken in housemade siracha & louisiana hot sauce. I wasn’t impressed. The French Toast was thin and flimsy. It tasted like It was made on sandwich bread. I should’ve known better than to get chicken poppers. I asked for a of chicken thigh. It was juicy and crunchy. Had I known better, I would’ve chosen this chicken option to begin with.
Next, I ordered an avocado toast topped with eggs. The melted cheese is a great addition to this dish. However, I prefer sliced avocado rather than the avocado spread.
My partner had the Basil Pesto Crispy Polenta Avocado Toast with egg. This is a gluten free meal. The egg is an add on to both Avocado toast options.
Beverage: This place has a Watermelon Mimosa that I’ve been trying to imitate for the last four days. It was sweet and fruity.
Payment: Bru’s Wiffle doesn’t accept American Express. As an Amex Gold Member, one of the benefits of the card is the 4X points at restaurants. If this was a quick order to go, I wouldn’t mind. But, on an $150 bill, knowing this sooner would’ve probably impacted my choice to visit.
Overall, I think that this restaurant had some options would be pretty tasteful. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try them...
