La Monarca Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Santa Monica

I usually come here and i always enjoy their pastries/food and coffee. But i think what did it for me is that i have had 2 incidents when I have preordered a cake for special occasions and when it comes time to pick the cake up that they don't have it. That they sold most of their cakes for the day and that they never received the cake so i had to pick from the cakes they had left. The first time i ordered in person a week ahead to be told when i arrived that they didn’t have the cake. Second time i went through the website and ordered a couple days ahead and same thing. Both times i was really upset and just wanted my money back because they could of let me know ahead of time that they weren't able to complete my order and let me know if they had alternatives. Honestly, since this recent incident i stopped going and i don't plan on really ordering stuff for events here anymore because I cant trust that the order will be fulfilled. Honestly if I could Rate them Six stars I would, scratch that. Eleven stars. This place always overachieved in their product and their service. Especially because I am Spanish and I appreciate good culturally driven food. Not only are their drinks phenomenal, but their savory pastries are my hardest battle to overcome by sheer will power, not to purchase every sort of variety of classic Pan Dulce!! Each piece looks hand crafted and ready to fulfill your dreams of sweet cravings and I really do appreciate their bite sized Pan. But I’m skimming over the real reason I come here, their Chicken Móle is stuff to die for... my word. I never expected to go to Coffee shop and have two tacos bless my stomach with their grace and leave me satisfied throughout my day. I've lived in Santa Monica for 7 years and April 4, 2024 is the first time I stop in to order something. The coffee is excellent. It's better than Starbucks. Excellent pastries to choose from and they are absolutely delicious. I don't know of any other place that has pastries that taste as good as the ones here.

Cozy atmosphere inside and outdoor seating is also available for those who wish to dine outside.

What stood out the most was the amazing customer service that I received. It was genuine service. The kind of service where you can tell they really want to make sure that you are taken care of. You don't find that at hardly any place these days but I was delighted to find it here. I think I'm going to discontinue my 15 years streak with Starbucks and start coming over here.
