Pepe's is another of my lunchtime favorites during the work week. I typically come here around 12PM on a weekday, and get lunch with about a 10 minute wait after ordering.
The food is consistently good. I have eaten the chilaquiles here, and the salsa verde was fantastic. It had the perfect amount of heat (for me) and they warned me about the spiciness before I put in my order. I've also had a few of their "super" burritos. They are also really good.
With some burritos you can see where they plopped the scoop of each ingredient, and it is like eating a flavor-changing jawbreaker, except the flavors are rice, beans, steak, salsa, and cheese. Pepe's takes the extra 4 seconds to make sure the ingredients are mixed up, so each bite is about the same.
The salsa bar. So many choices. I usually try a different one each time I come here, although a favorite is the pico de gallo with some habañero sauce mixed in. Delicious.
The service is also on point. They always verify that they recorded your order properly, which definitely limits the chances that you get something other than what you ordered. They are always walking the tables, regardless of how busy it is, and any of the staff will pop by and ask if you'd like a refill if it looks like you are getting close to empty.
Overall, Pepe's is a lunchtime favorite for my group at work. The menu is fairly large, but they have showed that they can handle it, and put out a good product.

Read moreThis was my first time at Pepe's. I have been meaning to get in for a while so taco Tuesday seemed to be the right time.
I ordered three Carne Asada, three Al Pastor, and three Polo Asada tacos. They were all a good size and filled with meat.
First, the Carne Asada; it was very tender but a bit bland. Then I tried my wife's Polo and it was good. Both tacos were just missing a little something. Then I had the Pastor, the best of the three in my opinion. The pork was very tender and extremely flavorful. I would definitely return for the Pastor but not so much for the other two. All of the tacos were loaded with grilled onions and sliced radishes.
The tacos came with chips and two different salsas. The chip were ok and the salsa had good flavor but at least one of them could have used a bit more heat.
The service was great! And my tacos came out quickly. You can watch them being made right behind the counter.
The price seems to be in line with other Mexican restaurants in the immediate area.
Pepe's may not be at the top of my return list but I will head back for some of that wonderful Pastor.

Read moreBeen eating here for 25yrs. My dad use to take me here after my soccer or baseball games when I was like 10. I have NEVER had a bad experience or a bad meal here. The burritos are the size of my leg, so come hungry. Their green/tomatillo salsa is the best in CA. Seriously. Order the off-menu Chile Colorado super burrito, it's awesome. Or if you don't dig on beef or swine, get chicken tacos or a chicken super burrito. I have been to Mexican restaurants all over CA and this is the best family owned, traditional Mexican restaurant in northern California. Hands down. And the prices are incredibly reasonable. The owners and staff are all good people. Outdoor seating too. Sunday's are packed with people, so expect to wait a few minutes to get your food....
