Armando’s Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Santee

We enjoyed the outside venue and met some really nice people around us, it was like sharing a dinner with friends at different tables. Everyone present were pleasant, and made for an enjoyable evening! Not a place if you don't like mexican food, why go here if you want chicken fingers and fries???

The food was plentiful and was typical mexican restaurant faire. The drinks especially Margaritas were amazing; definitely recommend Raspberry!

We had fajitas for tacos for 2, and a couple of tamales, and Chilies Toreados (see below). Everything was good and plentiful. If we're in the area, we'd definitely consider eating here again, more than plenty left to take home for a light lunch the next day!

The place was moderately busy enough to suffer a little of the Covid related understaffing typical for 2022. The staff was friendly, and attentive well enough to make up for any minor oversites. The nachos and salsa were a little late, no problem! :-)

For a special treat if you love the heat! I love the chilies. And, this restaurant makes perfect Chilies Toreados! If you're adventurous like us and enjoy jalapeños, try the "Chiles toreados" (Roasted Jalapeños)! Ours were served perfectly and beautifully roasted. Each order had 2, or more, jalapeños and were plentiful enough for a single person, or two if you're just being adventurous.

If you're new to them, there are no rules. Eat them with seeds, ribbing and skin (my wife likes them that way), or try them like I like them, I scrape off the skin, remove the seeds and ribbing... This gives you a sweeter and less intense heat, about half... the roasting sends this side dish over the top and makes for a special treat if you love some heat! (Preparing by removing the skin makes it sweet (it has a mild bitter taste, removing the seeds can be done for health reasons like diverticulosis (not heat) contrary to most belief, the real heat is in the little white ribbing inside the jalapeño, removing these drops the heat to...

8/25....Ten months ago we ate here and I left the review dated 11/24. At that time we said we wouldn't return. But we did. My estimation has not changed and I'm sorry we went. Again the meal were tasteless but what shocked us was the fact that each item was charged separately. For my husband's mix fajita, steak and chicken, we were charged $18 for the meat. Then, an additional $1.50 for the peppers and $1.50 for the onions. Mine was chicken fajita. For the meat $13 plus the additional charges for pepper/onions. Who ever heard of a fajita without peppers and onions?? That's what a fajita is, meat, peppers and onions! And some seasoning to give it flavor. We've never gone to a Mexican restaurant and been charged separately like that. For sure our previous decision will now stand. We will not return.

11.24....We've eaten here before and loved it. However, yesterday was terrible. Our order was taken by one person, then another asked, then another served us. The food was plenty but absolutely tasteless. I had Pollo Fundido and it looked like it would be yummy but it had no flavor at all, I'm not talking spice, I'm talking just flavor. I’ve been a regular for a while now. Just deciding to leave them a review. So for anyone traveling through the area I highly recommend Armandos Mexican restaurant. The servers are very friendly and are more then accommodating. They help to make you feel right at home. The food is delicious. But of course that’s my opinion. Same as other reviews on here I have seen some pretty crummy comments on here, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I love seeing opinions being expressed. I’ve come to know the managers very well and they are such nice people. I know if you go and have any issues you just let them know and they will take good care you. Anyways as I was saying the food is delicious, the service is very friendly, the all around seating is just inviting and fun, there are plenty TVs to watch your choice of sport while in the center of everything is the bar, also they have two extra party rooms to accommodate big parties. stop by and get you some good food and tasty drinks.
