Estrada's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Santee

A few weeks ago I called ahead a placed a to go order. While paying for my food, I didn't recognize the way my order was written on the screen and asked a question about it. The cashier, a young guy in his early 20's, sighed loudly, rolled his eyes, and angrily and loudly read back my order to me, continuing to talk over me as I apologized for not understanding the way my order appeared on the screen. He then angrily said "is there a problem?" Loud enough for anyone else in the restaurant to hear and in a tone that suggested he'd be willing to fight with me about it. I told him no, finished paying, said thank you, and left. I work in customer service and have for many years. I understand that customers can being frusterating, and I always keep that in mind when interacting with service workers because I don't want to be that person. However, this interaction has stuck with me because of how misplaced his anger was. I do not work there, and because of that, I do not know how this particular restaurant displays menu items on the register screen, and all I did was ask about it. I wasn't rude, I wasn't loud, and I wasn't condescending. I hope this reaches the right people and that this guy doesn't treat anyone else this way in the future. Pretty excited to have this place close to me. I have driven by this place on a few occasions and decided to stop to try it out and I am glad I did. I have eaten at most Mexican food spots here in Santee and Estrada's definitely competes with most. The seating is a little outdated but I enjoyed sitting there and eating. I personally went with carne asada torta although the menu had lots a options for one to choose from along with the drink options. They also have two options for guacamole. I am not a fan of the horchata that dispenses from the soda machine and prefer the old way of making it so I went with the orange fanta. Prices are very good and they do not over charge you as many places are now doing. Plus they don't skimp you on the food!

While I was sitting there many just ordered food to go which only shows how popular this spot is in our neighborhood. Overall good experience and I definitely recommend this spot if you are in the mood for some fast Mexican food for a very decent price.

Dude working the register with the glasses needs to go! Has a piss poor attitude with an overall bad vibe when interacting with him. I went yesterday for a simple Cali burrito and it took over 15 min just to give me my food. I went 9+ months ago as well for the same thing and it took 20+ min for 1 simple Cali burrito. Both times I went there was nobody in front of me waiting for food it was just me… so it’s not like they were busy.. I have a feeling the burrito gets done being made and he just lets its sit there until you come up and say something. And his reply when you do say something (both times) is a condescending “oh sorry” and proceeds to smirk. I used to come here all the time years ago when the older crowd worked there.
