Bad Hombres Good Mexican Food — Restaurant in Santee

Came in for the first time I had to get out of the drive thru since I was there for about 8 mins without any cars moving so I just decided to go inside and order, got a surf n turf burrito with a little bit of rice and asked for a cup of water which I had to ask twice for and inwas the only customer inside at the time. I grabbed my food and pour myself some water from their fountain and out comes out a black dust particle so I decided to skip the water. As far as the burrito goes I still got a decent amount of rice on it the portion was good and the flavor was there also very affordable no eye-gouging for today's economy prices so that's a plus. On a scale of 1-10 it's a solid 6.3 (Update) 11/20/2023- they had two different types of music going on simultaneously and loud. The girl that took my order wat going to charge me $4.96 for two cups of water? I just said give me two bottles of water instead...the burritos were drier than the Sahara desert 🏜️ and I bragged about this place to my wife only to be a major disappointment,Two Burritos 5 rolled tacos a kids menu bean and cheese and a corn 🌽 on the cob. $49.00 and change. I give them a 0, disgusting! I won't be coming back.

(UPDATE) 11/1/2025 I went through the drive-thru the usual wait is about 20 minutes or so sometimes more I ordered the surf and turf nachos no shredded cheese I ended up getting carne asada nachos sour cream and guacamole, I quickly turn my vehicle go inside there's nobody else in there, I told the girl at the counter excuse me this is not surf and turf nachos she says "oh no it isn't sorry about that" didn't say nothing after that so I'm waiting for another 5 minutes or so until 3 white males walk in they order the same girl takes their order one by one and asked all three of them if they would like a cup of water while they're waiting for their food.. I mean I guess I wasn't a important customer right? The only messed up my order and I had to turn back my vehicle so they can make it right, anyways I'm waiting there for about 15 minutes more and then finally call my order I double check I inspect the nachos and the guy that handed me the food looks at me while rolling his eyes... Yeah man what's up with the staff?? Damn bad hombres that just might be the last time I show up. Places a joke it's a hid and miss totally not worth your valued time and money Go elsewhere there's plenty of good spots...

I have been going to this place since it opened in 2020. The food in my experience has always been good and never disappoints. Portions are always large and the food is flavorful, even on their "off" days I still feel like I didn't waste my money. Except their red taco, that thing sucks every time. The price is definitely a little steep, but considering the portion size I think it's worth it. The service is not amazing but it isn't bad. It's good. That's it, just good. No general complaints there. Overall, a great establishment! Although, the only reason it got 4 stars is because of one complaint. EVERY TIME, without fail, it smells so bad inside the restaurant. Like on good days, it smells like a public restroom that you eventually become nose blind to after sitting in there for long enough, and on bad days the place smells like literal shit. I always thought I was the weird one but I have gone with friends where they will also make the comment that it smells horrendous in there. I've never used the restroom here so I can't say whether or not the smell is coming from the restroom or maybe it is the plumbing. I went today and wow... it smelled so bad like it does genuinely deter me away from the place altogether. I could go in the drive thru yeah, but most of the time it's wrapped around the building. So, everything is good! Food is good, service is good, portion is good, lots of seating. But yeah that smell is what's keeping this place from reaching like a good recommendation. I'm sure they know, I brought it up one time a few years ago and they said they are aware and have gotten complaints but all these years later and it's gotten worse. It's very odd. I'll keep eating here but I don't think I'll wait inside the restaurant again for longer than 5 minutes, my nose hairs...

Serious customer service issues. I ordered 3 fish tacos along with other items. When I paid for my order, I asked about getting extra lime (as instructed by the lady I placed my order with), the girl said yes. I paid for my order with a card and told the girl that I would give a cash tip as I declined the tip option on the machine. As I was getting cash out of my wallet, another girl walked up to the girl at the window and told her not to give me any lime at all unless I paid for it since I didn't tip. I ordered fish tacos....I should get lime with them, especially since I clearly expressed a preference for the lime and was told to "just ask for extra at the window". Needless to say after overhearing that hateful comment, I reduced the tip from $6 for a $37 order down to $3. I'm at a drive through window, tips were never given or expected for fast food. That's a new thing and another example of entitlement attitude. If you charge extra for lime, state so and don't "forget " or decide to charge for it based on tip or no tip. That's unethical and illegal business practice. When I got my food...NO LIME at all so, I ask again for lime and the girl went and got it. Usually I order $50 to $65 in food but had a bad experience with them last 2 times I went. I decided to give them another chance because the hand made corn tortias are amazing but this was the last. They also got carried away with hot spice in the chicken fajita burrito and the overallquality of their foid has diminished greatly. This place has gone down hill and doesn't treat their customers with dignity or respect. Clearly the customers that are the very reason they are in business...
