Mast Park has taken a complete 180° turn for the BETTER! The park used to be NOTHING BUT 10 foot tall bushes stuffed full of homeless and drug addicts and littered full of paraphernalia and garbage and even the most tough, badass, hardcore people wouldn't choose to walk thru during night time alone... But its changed to have a BIG enclosed dog area, a 9 hole disk golf course on the outskirts / perimeter of the park wit 2 "tee off" pads per hole; one for beginners (shorter throwing distance) and one for advanced (longer throwing distance), although the course isn't very difficult or super advanced, it is / can be quite difficult due to the amount of trees thrown in the mix between tee off and the hole...
THE PARK IS NOW CURRENTLY UNDER 100% COMPLETE REMODEL AND EVERYTHING IS GETTING RENOVATED!!!! THE BATHROOMS, BASKETBALL COURT, THE KIDS PLAYGROUND, THE DOG AREA WHICH FROM WHAT IVE GATHERED THEY ARE GOING TO BE MAKING 2 SEPARATE DOG AREAS ONE FOR LARGE DOGS AND ONE FOR SMALL DOGS I BELIEVE, THE DISK GOLF COURSE (WHICH SEEMS TO POSSIBLY BE GETTING SOME WATER OR SAND TRAPS THROWN IN THE MIX OF EVERYTHING NOW??! NOT 100% ON THAT SO DON'T QUOTE ME BUT THEY HAVE SOME RATHER LARGE AND DEEP POND LOOKING HOLES THEY HAVE DUG OUT WHERE THE COURSE USED TO BE LOCATED.), AND THEY ARE EVEN EXTENDING THE PARKING LOT SUBSTANTIALLY TO AT LEAST 4 TIMES THE SIZE!!!!!! (IF YOU HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE, THEY ARE EXTENDING THE PARKING LOT ALL THE WAY TO WHERE THE KID PLAYGROUND ONCE WAS LOCATED AND FOLLOWS WHERE THE WALK PATH THAT WENT BEHIND THE LIBRARY IS THAT WENT LEFT AT THE BASKETBALL COURT AND BEFORE THE OLD...
Read moreThis might be one of the most natural and well-designed parks I’ve seen around San Diego. The whole layout just feels seamless with nature – walking trails along the river, trees everywhere, and open spaces that make you forget you’re still in the city.
The playgrounds are amazing: big slides, climbing structures, swings, ball courts, and even little bridges and shaded pavilions. There are play sets for all ages, from toddlers to older kids, which makes it super family-friendly. I really like how creative the play areas are, using natural materials like logs and rocks to make it feel more adventurous.
Beyond that, there’s plenty of space for a chill picnic, a dog park with different sections, and wide open lawns. You’ll also find outdoor fitness equipment, basketball courts, and a disc golf course if you want something active.
Plenty of parking, nice restrooms, and shaded areas make it comfortable to spend hours here. It’s honestly one of those places where you can just relax, let the kids explore, or bring friends for a...
Read moreSantee’s best park, no question. Park walking/running loops are roughly 0.26 mi, 0.59mi, 0.85mi featuring combination of dirt and concrete. Other than the main entrance, the park can be accessed from the East side on Wintercreek Pl and River Trail Pl. Disc golf course features solid A and B tee pads for a well rounded 18 holes. Disc golf tournaments are usually held first Saturday of the month and every Sunday from 9-2 ish, so beware of crowding and influx of players on those days. Also there is a lower dirt/gravel parking lot at the main entrance for when things get packed. Trail from the park (runs between main parking lot and gravel lot) also extends under Carlton Hills Blvd and leads to the golf (not disc) course or to the other side of the street by the liquor store. Bathrooms are next to the basketball courts and also by the hole 3 A tee pad on the disc golf course. Basketball courts have lights that are on till about 10pm. Also there is probably one of the coolest playgrounds in...
