La Valentina Mexifood — Restaurant in Santee

I went to Dolche Expresso with my wife about a month ago for a to-go order, and honestly, it was rough. Found a hair in my chilaquiles-gross, but I just picked it off and ate it anyway. The chilaquiles weren't awful, just lacked flavor; the sauce needed more punch. My wife's rolled tacos were the same deal, bland, no seasoning. We gave them another shot today since my brother was visiting, and their menu is so big, I figured, maybe something else will work. Nope. His carne asada torta and my carnitas torta were just meh, totally bland. My wife tried a chicken quesadilla today, and it was dry, flavorless, and soggy from the pico de gallo. You can't even hold it! The Santee community really wants Dolche Expresso to thrive because of the lots of turnover in that spot-but the food's just not cutting it....

Nacho's Nachos Taco Shop is closed and Dolche Espresso Mexi-Food House has taken over this spot. They are offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, not to mention coffees all day long.

I had beef birria torta with a side of beans and consomme for $13.95 plus tax. The torta was good and also came with cheese. The meat was tasty but a bit dry, but the trick is to pour the warm consomme which definitely enriched the meat with flavor and juiciness. I do recommend that they serve the consomme piping hot for better effectiveness. The torta came with a good amount of beef, and the beans served on the side were good.

What an amazing experience! This place is hands down one of the most authentic I’ve ever been to. The food is absolutely incredible—fresh, flavorful, and packed with that true Mexican taste you crave. I ordered chilaquiles with potatoes and eggs… and the plate was huge! I couldn’t even finish it, I was so full and satisfied. Every bite was better than the last. The prices are totally worth it for the quality and love you can taste in every dish.
