Tabu Sushi Bar & Grill Santee — Restaurant in Santee

I am giving Tabu Sushi 4 Stars because of their great service and atmosphere...but there were some negatives on my last visit...the 2-2-2 was presented to me as Yellowtail, Ahi Tuna and Salmon. The Salmon was awesome...the Ahi fresh but the Yellowtail was actually Red Snapper. My server insisted it was Yellowtail...but it certainly was not...vast difference between the two. The Red Snapper was very good though, but was lacking the drpth and creaminess of Yellowtail. I ordered a side of Octopus...it was presented well and was delicious...but, I asked my server, "Do you ever serve raw Octopus?" He replied that what I received was raw! I challenged him again, and he was steadfast and replied that the Octopus came prepackaged and was not cooked. Little did my server know was that the prepackaged Octopus was already cooked. I also had a Soft-Shell Crab Roll, although good, it was unimaginative and mixed with soggy krab meat and it dampened the crunch of the deep fried crab. There was also no special dipping sauce which should have been ponzo or a light plum. It may sound like I am ragging on this place...definately not...all was fresh and tasty...but the servers should know their fish...and the chefs the focus of the order (Soft Shelled Crab) and what augments it without overwhelming it...it was boring. I also ordered Uni...delicate and special...creamy hints of tide pools...memories...great stuff...but my order seemed to lack the usual impact, and mt tastebuds were left disappointed. I am going again this weekend because it is a great place...they were busy, busy, busy on my last visit, but attention to details should not suffer. Still 4 stars...let's see what happens...

Came in today with my Wife and one year old daughter. Waiter was extremely sarcastic from the start. Ok no big deal ! Then we order 2 California rolls and a specialty roll , 30 minutes go by rolls are still not out . We are the only people there other than one other party . The 2 gentleman making rolls are having a casual conversation about how they are hung over and how they need to pick up the pace ,even they realized it was taking long . By the way they were speaking they must have assumed they we didn't understand Spanish because they were cursing and have extremely inappropriate conversation when they are literally 10 feet away from us .Very unprofessional and extremely disrespectful. We finished the 2 rolls wend to epic wings next door and spent 60 bucks on food to eat and bring some back gone to the rest of the family. They are not interested in making money here nor do they care about proving any kind of customer service. Ohh yea sweep the floors THEY...

Food was excellent. I was very disappointed when I noticed the bill was 10.00 more than expected. I brought to their attention that their website menu that is posted has different prices. I was told they raised their prices a couple months ago and updated their website. I went step by step with him and showed him it was different. His only solution was "they probably have a new website" I showed him this was the only website. He said "management said the updated the prices so, that was my total" Wow. I won't be going there again. We are regulars too! We have brought many guests here. Not anymore. Had the employee say Thanks I will let my Manager know and what I should do, they would have kept my business. Very disappointing!
