Honestly I feel like a fool for ordering here so often after I finally realized they absolutely rip off their customers. I suppose that's my fault for not checking the receipts sooner, but I had previously just assumed the price was above $100 each time I ordered because I ordered a large amount for my family. However, after dining in one time (rather than paying/ordering over the phone), I was given the receipt and looked over it while I was waiting and was absolutely appalled at how much of the cost was due to them charging for what was supposed to be included, or charging a ridiculously high "add on" price for an inconsequential amount of whatever they were charging you for ($2 for cheese per taco which was not even a teaspoons worth of shredded cheese).

Charging this much for your food and then refusing to provide what is supposed to be included is just offensive. Really misleading menu and unprofessional / underhanded business practices.

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU LEAVE because they literally charge you for every little thing and it's beyond excessive (BTW, I don't mean "add ons", substitutions, or additional items like extra meat, which would be reasonable to charge a little extra for; I'm talking about items the menu depicts as being included with your order).

For example, if you order a burrito, which includes rice (as per the menu which states "your choice of white or Mexican rice") they charge you $2 extra for the rice inside the burrito which is supposed to be included. If you order the quesabirria they ask you if you want cheese (which is implied in the name that it's included... QUESAbirria) then they charge you extra for cheese without saying a word. Also, if you order more than 2 tacos, they don't give you sauce for the other tacos and make you pay for extra if, God forbid, you want more than 2 sauces for 10 tacos. Not to mention, they literally give you the smallest size sauce cup which is barely filled 1/4 of the way to begin with.

Just to give you a little context about what I'm referring to as excessive: Last time I ordered from here they charged me $24 EXTRA (in addition to the listed menu price for each item) for sprinkle cheese for a burrito and 11 tacos I bought for my family (including 1 QUESAbirria)... I could see charging a little extra but multiple dollars PER TACO?! At that rate I could've gone out and bought multiple bags of cheese to put on the tacos myself lol. Seems pretty sketchy to me for them to not even mention beforehand that they are charging you such an obscene amount of money for such a trivial amount of cheese, but I'm assuming they are counting on their customers being in a rush and hoping they don't check the receipt to notice. On top of that, I only received 2 sauces for that rather large order of food. When I asked why I hadn't received, at the very least, 10 sauces for the 10 tacos, burritos, and other items I ordered, they explained that it is their "policy" that when you order more than 2 tacos, they only provide you with one sauce per 3 tacos... however, if you only order one taco they give you two sauces for that singular taco. The woman gave me a couple sauces as I was leaving, which I appreciated and thought was kind, UNTIL I took a look at my receipt and saw she had previously already charged me for them to begin with, without saying anything. Are you joking?? If I spend more money with you and get more food, you decide to give me less? Then not only do you give me less but you charge me extra for what I would've gotten for free if I ordered less or ordered the tacos separately? Please tell me how that makes sense.

Never again will I order from here, and I suggest you find another place to spend your hard earned money at that doesn't take advantage of it's customers. At the very least, make sure you check your receipt because they charge different amounts for things depending on who's behind...

I got take out so I can't comment on the service or atmosphere, but if they're anything like the food I was served then they are five stars! My meal was DELICIOUS! Their chips are so thick and taste homemade (in the best possible way), their queso is probably the best I've ever had. It has corn and peppers mixed throughout for an extra boost of flavor that really kicks it into third gear. I ordered the enchilada and it was SO good! I highly recommend it if you're not sure what to get. I have a light stomach but it was so easy, not super greasy at all. Not to even mention the portion sizes! The enchilada easily could be split into three meals. And oh my goodness!! You have not lived until you've had their green salsa. I used it as a dip for my chips and flavor for my enchilada. It had just a little kick, while still being so sweet. I cannot even explain how good it was! It is a MUST TRY!! I tried their churros which were a little tough, but I didn't eat them right away so it's not an issue for me. It could have maybe used a little more cinnamon, but overall it was still really good. This was some of the best food I've had in forever!! Highly Highly...

Dear Reyna's Taqueria,

I am writing to share my recent experience with an order I placed from your restaurant. I ordered $60 worth of food from Reyna's Taqueria, Commons Plaza, located at 935 N Beneva Rd Suite 701, Sarasota, FL 34232. Unfortunately, the meal did not meet my expectations.

The food seemed overcooked, with the beans particularly dry and the rice appearing old. I ordered the Steak and Shrimp, and found the shrimp to be excessively salty, which led me to discard them. Additionally, the red and green peppers were soggy and lacked flavor. To make matters worse, I had to eat the meal with my bare hands. When I attempted to contact the restaurant for plasticware, the response I received was less than satisfactory. The person who answered the phone was unhelpful and suggested I eat with my hands.

Given my experience, I am hesitant to order from Reyna's Taqueria at Commons Plaza again. For future orders, I would suggest providing utensils to customers, especially for larger orders. I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

Thank you for your attention to...

Wow, this places looks very unassuming on the outside, in part, due to the large "Taqueria" sign that obscures the small "Reyna's" sign in front of the strip mall, BUT...wow, the tacos are absolutely fantastic. 👍🏽 Between my husband and myself, we've eaten plenty of tacos in cities around the U.S. (like the Mission District in San Francisco, S. Florida, Salt Lake) and in Mexico, but this is one of the best places we've enjoyed in a looong time. We both ordered 3 different tacos to go with our birria plates. For me the stand out was the brisket taco--holy moly! So incredibly tender. But the other two--pork with pineapple and beef birria were also mouth-wateringly tasty. Even the grilled onions were made with care and cooked just right, along with the fresh tortillas and delicious salsa (roasted) and chips (homemade). Also, really refreshing horchata (and thankfully, not overly sweet like some other places). Highly recommend!

The al pastor burrito bowl was extremely bland and tasteless. The pork literally tasted like I licked the Chile powder directly out of the spice shaker. There was very little beans in it, the Mexican rice pretty much tasted like nothing. I got the guacamole and it had way too much lime in it, it was extremely sour. The asada salsa was very bland and tasteless, had hardly any flavor to it and was just overall lacking. The whole meal was just disgusting and upset my stomach. I'm very disappointed in this restaurant altogether. Was not worth the $30 that I spent on it. I won't be recommending nor eating from this restaurant again.

Today’s Special on THURSDAYS! Oh my gosh. Go. They are still open. Suadera Tacos made with delicious brisket, (the perfect mix of fat and crispy goodness) and a crunchy slaw with red and green cabbage, carrots, red onion and tiny slivers of fresh jalapeños and cilantro all “tidy like” on a blue corn tortilla. Family owned and run. Mamma’s in the kitchen. If you SADLY miss it today~Saturday is TAMALE DAY! Until they sell out….. Don’t dress fancy. T-shirts and shorts will do. You order at the counter and they bring out your piping hot food. Like any great place to dine should.
