I usually don't write reviews, but tonight really stood out, and my wife wanted to check in here and there to see if anything was mentioned since the situation really bothered her and me. And so here I am, hoping to help out two associates who were given the hardest time for just doing their jobs. My wife and I were actually at the Saratoga Springs Walmart when this incident occurred. We were heading towards the registers after hearing the announcement that the store would close at 11 PM, which I prefer to shop at night, so I usually shop right up until it's about to close. As we were heading in that direction, I overheard Camyl stating calmly and firmly to a customer that the store was closed and no further shopping could be done. The customer responded that she was going to shop anyway, which honestly took me aback since the closing announcements had already been made several times. Camyl was being respectful and courteous, just stating the fact that the store was closing and the checkout time. To my wife and me, Camyl appeared to be fulfilling her duty and trying to help close up the store in a reasonable fashion. The customer was walking to all the registers when she made her way to the exit, with Camyl and Kory following behind. As my wife and I walked to the store's exit, I could hear the customer's voice getting louder and louder as she yelled at, I assume, Kory. She was yelling in the store, already causing a disruption. Now it's outside, and Kory is with her. I also noticed that Kory was on the phone; I can only assume he was speaking with the police. And heard him state that the customer had a Starbucks cup, which looked to be a cup they sold, so he fixed that report to the person on the phone? Her yelling was much louder and disturbing. It created a stressful and uneasy atmosphere for everyone around her, including her husband and son.. they looked uncomfortable just being in that situation. Despite that, Kory retained his calm and professional attitude, clearly trying to diffuse the situation as best as he could while she continued to yell. My wife and I stayed in the car and watched the whole thing. In contrast, Kory stayed on the phone and remained calm, especially when the customer continued to go off. We left as soon as the police got there. My wife wanted to stay in case the customer tried to hit kory or any associates, so she could help them. Since you honestly donāt know what anyone is capable of doing in this world. Given what we witnessed, I'm not at all surprised that the police were called. As a customer, Camyl and Kory both reacted with an enormous amount of patience and professionalism. They were attempting to enforce store policy and should not be faulted in any respect for their reaction to a highly challenging situation. All of the other associates continued to do their job and get everyone else out of the store. I will continue to shop at this location. It's sad in this world how people think they can push the limits without expecting something to happen; you play stupid games, win...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to buy storage totes. Found the perfect size with wheels which helps with my disability and they were a super amazing price. (Too good to be true, I thought) I was right. They were all placed on the same shelf with a description on the price tag that seemed to match. When going to check out I was told the price was wrong and double what the sticker said. I took the associate back to show her they were the only large blue totes around and the price tag showed "large blue tote" She scanned the item and told me that an associate at Walmart must have placed them there because there was "no spot for those totes anywhere In the isle". She then searched and searched for the actual item that was supposed to be the deal price and it was clear on the other end of the aisle and also even tho their inventory showed 24 available. She could only find 2. Because I am familiar with Walmart's price guarantee I went to customer service and explained to the CSM (manager) I asked how I am supposed to know the correct price if there is not an actual spot for the item and how am I supposed to know it's placed in the incorrect spot when the entire stock was placed there and matched the description shown on the shelf tag. I wanted clarification on why this didn't qualify as a price match and she never gave me a straight answer and was condensing to me and made me feel incredibly embarrassed while I was standing there. And the associate that checked me out, to begin with, to begin with, followed me to customer service even though she refused to call a CSM to the checkout when I originally requested. She was also very condensing and had a very disrespectful tone and made me feel incredibly stupid for even asking why this situation wouldn't fall under the corporate price match Guarantee policy. I felt so embarrassed and disrespected and stupid when I left the store and still never got an answer to my question even with the photos I had taken of the price tag on the shelf with the original totes that I had originally wanted to purchase and showing there was no other totes that remotely matched the description on the tag next to them. I don't know if I even want to go back to this location because of how poorly I was made to feel just for asking to get clarification on their corporate policy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOnce upon a time, I thought Walmart was just a place where you could buy groceries, get your tires rotated, and watch unsupervised children knock over displays. Little did I know, Walmart was about to turn my life upside down.
It all started one fateful Saturday. I went in to buy a simple thingābatteries for my TV remote. Just in and out, I thought. No big deal. But Walmart had other plans. As soon as I walked through the automatic doors, I got hit with the āRollbackā siren, and a chorus of staff members yelled, āWelcome to Walmart!ā My adrenaline spiked. It felt like Iād stepped into a reality show.
The batteries were in the farthest corner, so I braved the maze of aisles, past walls of $5 DVDs, and towers of weirdly heavy blankets marked down to $4.99. About five minutes in, I heard a sound like a stampedeāit was a flash sale on bulk toilet paper. I didnāt even know I needed toilet paper, but the next thing I knew, I was in a shoving match with an old lady who had the strength of a linebacker. I managed to grab a pack, only to discover it was a twelve-pack of single-ply. But somehow, I couldnāt let it go. The Walmart trance was real.
By the time I made it to the battery aisle, I had a cart full of random clearance items: a kid-sized trampoline, six bottles of industrial-strength cleaner, a rotisserie chicken, and the weirdest āAs Seen on TVā massage chair. At the checkout, the cashier gave me a knowing nod and muttered, āThe Walmart effect.ā I was charged $17.38, which somehow felt both too high and suspiciously low.
The cashier also signed me up for a Walmart+ membership, and I got my very own reusable shopping bag. That bag haunts me. Itās filled with items I donāt remember buying, things that magically appear every time I look inside, like a never-ending supply of plastic forks and expired cat food. I donāt even own a cat!
I left Walmart that day, battered, bewildered, and slightly poorer but with a trampoline taking up my entire back seat. My life hasnāt been the same since. Now I get unsolicited Walmart+ deals in my inbox and a strange urge to wander the aisles at 2 a.m. Every time I pass by, I feel the pull, the siren call of the...
