Mixed experience in our two visits, hoping for more consistency. The first visit was during their opening week: the food was tasty and fresh, ambiance and decor were great, service was very good. A little slow at times, but overall a five-star first visit - especially for a brand new restaurant working out a few minor (totally understandable) kinks in service. There does seem to be heavy-handed use of Mango and Jalapeno in the sushi, a surprising number of rolls on the menu feature one or both. I'd love to see some other flavor profiles as well.

We came back for a second visit a week or so later, and the experience had gone from five stars to generous three. Everyone at the restaurant seemed a bit frantic. The food was still fresh and good overall and saved the experience from being worse, but some of the recipes appeared to have already changed (e.g. the filling for the cheese wontons visit it had been changed to plain cream cheese with no other additions or seasoning). The biggest problem was with the service. Service was much slower than the first visit. The kitchen seemed to be missing orders, and our waitress returned several times to ask us to confirm our order. More than once, dishes were carried from table to table asking if they'd ordered it. Our seat was near the kitchen, and several of the wait staff gathered repeatedly just behind our table loudly discussing their latest life drama. The service was disappointing and unprofessional.

Running a restaurant is hard, and those first few weeks running a new restaurant are certainly even more challenging. Saratoga Springs and Lehi NEED more of this type of restaurant (we're all sick of the endless chains moving in). This place has a lot of promise, but that second service was a big disappointment. If the service kinks can be quickly worked out, this restaurant will be consistently packed with patrons - the...

Summary: Food is good but service is awful. I cannot get past the service and will not be returning. Never had my order messed up so much- and I live by the new McDonald's.

Today's experience:

WAITING: *Arrived at 5:45 - *Waited like 5-10 minutes at the front, nobody to add me to the list - *Finally got on the list - *No waiting area, so we awkwardly waited in the doorway... - *Others came in and they waited for someone to add them. - *Several open seats that seemed ready for people. - *After about 30 minutes we went out to the car to wait. Many others were waiting in car -

SEATED: Waitress got our drinks and we ordered an appetizer Drinks came Ordered food My food came Roll Came 5 minutes later asks how food is Ask about our appetizer. She said we got it. We didn't Got our appetizer Asked about my wife's food. Seems to have never ordered it with kitchen Get wife's food. Missing rice and soup. Says it doesn't include those items.. went to get a menu. It does come with those items. Finally gets wife's full meal. Drinks sit for 10 minutes empty while she sits and talks to the 5 other servers. Brings Bill. Tells us to take our time. 3 minutes later tries to pickup check but we hadn't put our card yet as my wife's food was so late. We're just done at this point so we wait for a box. The servers are still standing around by the kitchen. Finally get our box, pay, and GTFO

Worst experience. Good food. Can't get past the service so will not be returning. Picture attached is one instance where they were all standing around. Kinda looks like they were working but they weren't. The sushi chefs we're getting stern with them as well.

Side note: there was a lady waiting at the door for like 10 minutes before we left and even though they were just standing around she was not helped. She looked...

Update: I don't know if they listened or what, but literally since I posted my review they have really stepped up. I never wait for my to go orders more than a few minutes and they made an option to pay online which was a huge plus! I like to get in and out since I'm usually picking up food to go on my way home. I eat here almost once a week, sometimes twice. Love the monster roll the best!!!

Best sushi in town. I love the monster roll, aloha, and the jenny. However, their service is TERRIBLE!!! Every time I order sushi to go, when I arrive to pick it up, I ALWAYS wait at least 10 minutes and the longest I waited was 30 minutes, and my order is complete and sitting there just waiting for me to pay for it!!! They have a server that's been there for a while who looks at you, letting you know she sees you waiting but refuses to check people out. She sucks! They need to train their people better, have a front end person (hostess) that doesn't serve or bus tables, and also allow people to order and pay online and then have a pick up spot so we don't have to wait. Right now I can only order but not pay online. Please figure it out Hama, I really don't want to break...

First time here. Three of us went for dinner. Very good all around. We ordered: Gyoza - not a favorite. Frozen and precooked? Soft texture. Good sauce. Seared Pepper Tuna Tataki - very good, but not sure on value. Toro & Sake Nigiri - toro was like butter, both excellent. No wasabi on nigiri. Flame Dragon Roll - good smoke, not too much. Hama Roll - favorite, excellent. Kill Bill Roll - too much cilantro, all we could taste. Least favorite. You can see it in the photos. Golden Salmon Roll - crab salad too sweet, but good. Las Vegas Roll - good. California Roll - crab salad too sweet. Coconut Ice Cream with Tempura Bananas - banana to ice cream ratio wrong. Needs more ice cream. Good rice. Very tasty. Paper napkins vs cloth. Plastic drinkware vs glass. Soy sauce bottles are generic Kikkoman glass type vs nice ceramic. Excellent service. Brie was a star!! $128.86 with tax (before tip). I realize there are a lot of critiques here, but these ideas would make everything good, great! A five star rating from me is very good. Would definitely go back. Likely adding it to our monthly rotation. I would consider Hama in my top five Utah sushi restaurants.
