Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in Saugus

There's a special thing about the highway stretching the length of Saugus, MA. There's food from every chain or stand-alone kitchen you can find and yet one side of the highway has always held my attention more than the other. I've never eaten at a Jersey Mikes before. So my girlfriend and I finally went the other night after I saw a trending Instagram post with a guy explaining how to make the best combo sandwich on the menu and where to substitue for other ingredients or modify "Mike's Way" (several staple toppings). I've heard and tried so many of these posts or Top 10 lists on the best sandwiches in and around Boston. It's nothing new to me and I try not to pass on a chain because of its namesake. So we go in to try it, judge it, and move on with our evening. Unfortunately, things didn't go exactly as planned. The staff knew exactly what I was going for, the influencer sharing the secret sandwich, and even catered some finishing dipping sauces just before we sat down to dine in. The scene was set for a decent meal. So I took my first bite, sat with it for a moment and then looked over at her. We hardly spoke the rest of our meal. 2 bad experiences at this location. Don’t do it. Go to Swampscott.

First time we went there was a lineup in store so we got in line. 5 minutes later, the 2 guys behind the counter hadn’t even looked up at anyone in line. I understand being busy but there’s such a thing as looking up to let the people know you’ll finish up what you’re doing and help them. Also to note, in the time we were there, not a single mobile order pickup so not sure what they were doing. No one in that line stayed we all walked out.

Second time (maybe 4 months later), we put in a mobile order thinking maybe the first time was just a bad day for the location. We picked up our 2 subs, the bread had a raw middle and our subs had almost no meat. Including the one my husband paid to have double meat. My turkey sub had 1 slice. We were mind blown. We LOVE jersey mikes and have never had any issues going to Swampscott or other locations.

I messaged the store to let them know of their quality issue and did not get a response. Just go...

Where do I start? The sandwiches were actually pretty good. Nice looking spot but I wasnt given what I asked for. I went there (never been to a JM) FYI. I ordered a steak and cheese and a few seconds later I asked the gentleman that attended to me if I include add ons right now. He proceeded to say that the veggies were for cold subs. Which is fine with me if that's how it works. Wanted a steak and cheese with cooked onions, mushrooms with mayo and ketchup on wheat bread. Mind you my wife and I were the only ones in the store at the time. So it wasn't like there was any rush at all. I feel like the gentleman didn't really take his time to listen to what exactly I wanted. A few extra seconds was all we needed to get this order correct.
