So we got this blanket pizza, and it's literally a pizza but also covered on top with crust. Basically a giant shareable calzone. It's novel, but that's about all it has going for it.
We got a cheese, a pepperoni, and a sausage. Of the 7 people who tried it, we all agreed it was "Fine", but that we wouldn't really get it again.
Honestly it just seems like a missed opportunity to me. That top crust is just...there. It's not really adding or doing anything. It's different for the sake of being different. But you lose out on a lot. It's not really crispy, so you lose out on that texture. I am someone who always eats their crust, but these pizzas were essentially surrounded by 2" of just bottom crust + top crust and not really any tangible toppings or sauce in between, so it was just eating a piece of bread
Everything else about it as a pizza is fine. Sauce is good, toppings were fine. I just feel like scoring the top so that sauce and cheese bubble out, make it a bit messy, and get some more browning on top would really enhance this thing. Or even putting a thin layer of sauce on top that bakes on and browns. Or some kind of seasoning mix and an egg or butter wash to really make it get brown and tasty.
Loaded Baked Potato Jumbo tots were good, but we all also agreed they didn't feel worth $7.50 for 6 of them.
If we try again, it'll probably be to try a Calzone or a regular pizza. But unless that wows us, this spot will probably be a "If we have a coupon" location when...
Read moreI had the Italian Sausage patty sub w/fries and an order of Onion Rings. 1st the positives. Very nice and pleasant younger man at the counter to deal with (reason for 2 stars) and the onion rings are breaded and thick cut. 2nd the bad parts. The Onion Rings were both 70% crispy and 30% oily this usually happens in my experience when the oil is either not up to temp or is a bit older and needs to be changed soon. I ate these in my vehicle on the way home. So they were pretty much right out of the fryer and me eating them within 3 minutes. The fries where the same way, just not as hot as I waited to get home to eat them. (15min drive) The worst part of this was the Italian Sausage patty sub. Most pizza or Italian places use the sausage from the pizzas to make this type of sandwich. This place uses a pre made frozen oblong shaped patty. Almost like a McRib but of very plain and bland tasting Italian Sausage. I have never tried the pizza and I will be giving this establishment another go at it from a pizza perspective. I hope they use real ground Italian Sausage on the pizza and not frozen sausage bits like the chain pizza places use. EX: Dominos, Pizza Hut,...
Read moreThis was our first time trying this place for pizza and we were not impressed. We order the specialty chicken Sicilian as seen below, we were quit confused when we opened the box the see what appear to be canned green beans… which they were not of course but I was taught to eat with my eyes and this through me off a bit. We added onions to this same pizza and at first glance you can’t distinguish onion from chicken chunk, same bland white color and taste. This pizza was surprisingly okay, my first impression of the it set me back but the flavor was okay the garlic Parmesan was good chicken was bland and as my wife said “ it looks like they just through the onions on, they didn’t even give them time to cook.” Not my number one choice. Pizza 2 cheese pepperoni and sausage, nothing fancy, was also okay. Sauce was good I liked how it wasn’t too sweet. Crust was a good mixture of crisp bottom with a pillowy edge crust. To me there was nothing that stood out or spoke to me about these pizzas, think it’s good for a late dinner when you get back from up north and the kids are hangry on a...
