We visited this location while on vacation. There were a few people waiting when we got there and we were told there was a 30 minute wait. We gave the hostess our name and waited. There were at least 6 empty, CLEAN tables and a few more that were not cleaned yet. We watched a group of girls come in and seat themselves right in front of the hostess who said nothing. We were finally seated at a table that had been clean since we got there. The hostess felt it more important to talk and giggle with people she seemed to know away from the hostess table than to actually greet and seat people. Our waitress was very pleasant, in fact she was probably the only pleasant part of this dinner. She took our very simple orders (appetizers and two chicken meals). Our two friends got salads with their dinner. Twenty minutes passed and they had not received their salads. There was a table behind us that had been seated since we walked in the door. So by that time I would guess at least an hour. The woman requested the manager. About ten minutes later the manager came out to speak to them. They were very upset with good reason. The manager said she would check on their food. She stopped by our table on her way back and asked if we were ok. We told her we had been waiting over 20 minutes just for our two salads. She said she would check on our food as well. The manager never came back to update us or the other table. Our waitress came back and apologized profusely and we understood she had no control over the cook. Another ten minutes passed and our friends finally got their salads. About 20 minutes later the table behind us finally got SOME of their food. They questioned the waitress and she said they were bringing the rest separately. Thirty minutes after that their sons grilled cheese and fries were finally brought out. Their youngest had already fallen asleep at the table. Our food came out before the little boys grilled cheese. We didn’t ask for any receipt adjustment and tipped the waitress as we normally would. We just wanted to get out of there. By this time it was after 11 PM and we were beyond exhausted. I did see the manager taking some off the receipt of the family behind us. While waiting for our food I saw tables all around the restaurant asking for the manager as they had been waiting a long time for their food. I also watched people continue to come in, and they were told a 30 minute wait time with many empty tables. We were seated in the bar section. We were the only guests in this section.
The bartender was very nice and seemed very attentive when we first arrived. Unfortunately that service did not continue.
I ordered a side salad and soup as my meal, my daughter got a pasta dish and my husband ordered the fish and chips.
My food came out first and she let us know she had planned to give mine at the same time as theirs but asked if I wanted it anyway. We’d already been waiting probably 20 minutes so I assumed their food would be out shortly so I took it but did not eat it.
15 minutes later my daughters pasta dish came out. It was cold. My soup was now cold so I asked if she could ask the kitchen to heat it up for when she brings out my husband’s food.
His food came about another 10 minutes later. No soup. His plate was hot so it seemed like they had microwaved his fish and chips. We’ve ordered the fish and chips many times at other locations and were never given a hot plate. The fries also came on a separate, smaller plate instead of on the plate with the fish. I asked for my soup and she brought me a new dish with about two tablespoons of “soup” in it. The liquid was gone and it was just a bit of corn and veggies. I told her that it must have been mixed up and this was eaten because I hadn’t touched my soup. She went to the kitchen to get a new soup and never came back.
We waited 10 minutes and just paid the bill on the card system at the table.
It seemed like she was busy making drinks but all of the employees were standing with her and chatting. She never even looked up when we left and I never got the soup that we paid for. Not sure if the issue was her personally or her being overwhelmed with having to make drinks for the entire restaurant and not having time to keep an eye on our plates to make sure they came out.
Having our 3 orders come out with 10-15 minutes between each one was just baffling. We’ve never eaten anywhere that didn’t bring the food out all at once so people aren’t sitting at a table...
Read moreToday I traveled 4 1/2 hours to Savannah for a trip. I decided to come to the Applebee’s on Abercorn Street for a quick bites that I haven’t ate all day. I called my order in at 10:37pm to order my meal. When I spoke to the young lady on the phone, whose name is Shaniya P there was a shortage in the phone and I could not hear her. She said that she would get right back with me and hung up in my face. I called back again at 10:38 PM when I spoke to Shaniyah P, I ordered my meal. She could not figure out how to find the strawberry lemonade button. I even told her don’t worry about it. Just get me a Sprite. Shaniyah P then said she found the button and told me my pick up time was 11 PM. I arrived at 10:54 PM to use the restroom because I have been driving for 4 1/2 hours. when I came out of the bathroom to pay for my meal, Shania did not know how to work the POS system, then retrieve to contact her manager, who angrily assisted with the situation. The manager who was a lady sent in my order because apparently the young lady did not send in the order instead of communicating that with the guest, they continue to move because they were in a rush. I asked Shania, how long would it take? She said my food was coming out in just a second. At at 11:10 I decided to ask for a refund because the food was taking too long to come out. The angrily manager told Shania that she would give me a refund so they were just going to send me without a receipt for the refund. The manager then proceeded to say that they don’t have a receipt for the refund, but I should see it on my card and 3 to 5 business days. The issue that I have is the lack of communication between the employer and the employee. Nothing was accommodated for and I have no physical proof of what has occurred then called the office at 11:27 PM and no one picked up the phone. I will address this matter.
