Loud, expensive and underwhelming.
What the menu promised: Campanelle, 'Nduja, Calabrian Chili, Passata & Crispy Shallot
What I was served: A half cup of pasta tossed in seasoned tomato paste. Was the sausage and shallot in the room when the sauce was made? Only the chef knows for sure, because this customer couldn't tell. It was tasty but completely lacking substance. A literal handful of noodles and some tomato sauce for TWENTY-TWO DOLLARS.
The cocktails would be passable if they served them in adult sizes. Though my Vesuvio came in the daintiest wittle stem glass you can buy from the supply place, so of all the choices you can make as a savvy entrepreneurial restauranteur, that is definitely one of them. Congratulations on having exquisitely mediocre taste in glassware. [Author's note: This is an admittedly extremely petty criticism. Maybe I'd be nicer if I didn't leave your restaurant hungry. The world will never know.]
Visually appealing dining area but uncomfortably loud during our Wednesday night meal. Could not hear the people sitting at my table over the crowd, and "dive bar loud" shouldn't be the vibe when you're charging $50+/person for dinner and drinks.
Service and staff were fantastic, zero complaints to your tipped workers. I'm always impressed at how the bottom rung of the ladder keeps the whole thing standing.
All in all, probably the best $22 noodles and sauce you can get across the street from a homeless shelter. It's basically gentrification on a plate.
Edit: The foccacia was lovely,...
Read moreWe made our reservation about 3 weeks prior for 4 people and noted that we would have 2 babies with us. When we were seated we reminded them we had 2 babies. We had ours in a car seat and just sat her tucked in the booth with us. We asked if the other couple brought a stroller if they would be able to put it at the end of the table or if we should give them a heads up to just carry their son in with them. They also told us then that they only had one high chair and another family was using it. A server then came and very rudely told us we should’ve made a reservation for 6 people instead of 4. I reminded them again that I put in the reservation notes that we would have 2 babies with us as they are both under 1 and do not need seats. She persisted on us needing to reserve for 6 people instead of 4. We have never had this issue anywhere we have gone and eat out regularly with our babies. From a restaurant standpoint, I would assume the opposite as we would be taking up seats that could otherwise be used by others. She handled the situation very poorly. If we weren’t there for a birthday dinner, we would have left. Our actual server was great and very friendly. Food was very good but pasta portions were...
Read moreI give the food a solid 5, it was incredible. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, delicious wines, but the dining space and menu need attention. We sat in the small room located behind the host stand and the space has no sound buffer and is incredibly noisy when about 80% full. Pay special attention to the menu if you reference it prior to arrival. For opening week, the pricing felt scammy. Steak Pizzaiola listed online for $28 but $35 in restaurant. Tortelloni is not listed on online menu but instead listed as small version of Balanzoni for $19 online, but in restaurant you get the small version for $21. Cattarratto Dario is $12 online but $13 at restaurant. For an established restaurant with an outdated menu on their website with old prices, that’s understandable - but for opening week at a new restaurant that should not be the case. Either way, go and try them out. The foccacia is wonderful, the steak/pasta/wines were all very tasty with robust flavors that paired well in their...
