My husband and I had our first dinner at Kalash Kitchen last night, and we both agreed that it’s exactly what the valley has been missing.
The portions were huge, enough for a full meal and leftovers. We each tried a different platter (I had lamb and falafel, he had chicken shish kabab). We also tried the masala fries, and to our surprise, our waiter brought a chicken and rice dish to the table as an appetizer for us to try on the house.
Their menu also has a wide variety of sandwiches (hamburgers, cheesesteaks, etc). Another highlight? Their menu is gluten-free, except for the wraps and sandwiches, so there are still plenty of tasty options for those of us who are gluten-free. The staff we spoke to last night said they’re thinking about adding gluten-free wrap/roll options to their menu as well.
As of January 3, 2025, they don’t offer alcohol service yet, but we were told you can bring your own. This isn’t a restaurant to miss. The service was friendly, welcoming, and quick. It felt almost homey. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the different cuisine was a nice addition to the existing culinary choices the valley has available. The price point was also a pleasant surprise, being the least expensive meal my husband and I have had out in a very long time.

Read moreWhat a find! I've just been treated like a visiting dignitary by the proprietor of a new restaurant in Sayre with a very interesting ethnic history. Look him up as @Sauceman on Insta. I can see why he insisted we taste many items on his menu. He is confident for good reason. I don't normally enjoy falafel because it is often cold and rubbery. This is so crispy and light and comes piping hot out of the grease. Moreover, it's been a long time since I've had actual tzatziki sauce. He also has the type of tzatziki that's delicious and very American that comes out of a squeeze bottle, and that's fabulous drizzled over his tasty chicken biryani rice or absolutely perfect tandoori chicken. But the stuff he serves with his gyro meat is that thick, garlicky yogurt with cucumbers and herbs that you can't get enough of. Baklava came out rich and warm, and cheesecake really hit the spot. Creamy Masala tea was a wonderful end to a spectacular meal.

When you walk in, the aroma is incredible, the space is cozy, and the ambiance is inviting (I can’t wait until it warms up to sit outside!).
I got the lamb platter (rice, lamb, toppings of your choice, and a sauce of your choice) and BAKLAVA! I love Baklava! The rice is light, the lamb is tender, perfectly seasoned, and melts in your mouth while holding its form. The toppings are fresh and add a beautiful balance to the flavors, and the SAUCES—get them all! The white sauce, spicy sauce (if you can handle the heat), and cilantro sauce are amazing! The flavors literally dance in your mouth! For the price, the portion is more than ENOUGH!
The Baklava isn’t too sweet and has the perfect crunch-melt combo in every bite. I’m thrilled to have one closer to home!
