This review is more as a pool hall than a bar. America has moved away from pool towards video games and it's getting hard to find a great places for pool. The cues I looked at were straight but the tips were small and slippery. I found only three that were good enough to play out of maybe 20. The tables are fine (a few nicks, older felts but not messed up) with no columns or walls to get in the way. Plenty of chalk laying around. Lighting is good. This is a real bar, not a Billiard Hall that happens to sell some booze but kids can play until 10:30 PM, which is nice. The hamburger was quite excellent and I shared it with my son, I'd say it was a half pound. The fries were equally good and they offer Guinness on tap. This place is like the neighborhood bars from Chicago, dark, a little dirty, regular people wearing jeans type of crowd and 1970's-2000's music playing. Bartenders were terrific and don't wander about trying to get you to buy more. She did walk over my Guinness when I first got there and started to set up the table. I'll be back unless I find a better pool hall, which I...
Read moreMet a friend who frequents this place all the time. When arriving the bartender was outside so when we entered the establishment we had to wait for her to come in to get a rack of pool balls and order a drink. When she finally came in, it took her 15 more minutes to take our order. It was a quiet night but there were a good 10-12 people in the bar. Well I guess she decided to call the "owner" they were dead so she could close early. So after being there an hour she called last call and so I asked for my tab. The bartender charged my 3 friends and myself $29 for our pool table. I asked her what the charge was about and she, with an attitude said it's $7.70 a person! I mean it is what it is but to charge $29 or maybe an hour of pool is highly ridiculous and definitely not the way to build business on them "slower" nights.I will not be back and I'll make sure no one I know...
Read moreNO GOOD. Been here many times before it was one of my favorite places. I haven't been here in a while but It used to be very fun to go here, especially with crowds. Things have certainly changed. They have gotten rid of the real cork dart boards (BOOO), instead of simply replacing them (only 20 bucks a piece). I remember they used to let service animals in. No problem, but the place the entire place smells like dog pee and doo doo now. It was so bad it gave me a headache and we had to leave. The whole place was extremely too hot( which made the smell xtra funky) and we were wearing Tshirts. The drinks were so watered down. You could see through the glass. We basically played for Coke and water. They still have good pool tables. But it used to be soooo much better. PLEASE BRING BACK BOB'S. The best part was the football game on the...
