Maria's Halal Pizzeria (Schaumburg) — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

My experience with this place is complicated in a sense that 2 years ago until 2020, this place was excellent to dine at for my favorites over there which is an Extra Large Mama Special #1 replacing Pineapples for Jalapenos, and their Zinger Burger.

Sadly, due to new staff members and the original members long gone, it'll be a struggle to recreate the atmosphere and most importantly the food they once served as excellent. It's still great don't get me wrong, but it's just not the same based on my experience 2 years ago.

Just an Update to one of their menus: I like their new Mama Special #4 The Pepper Chicken Pizza consisting of Banana Peppers, Jalapeno Peppers, Green Peppers and Chicken. Great New Special and a Huge Alternative for the Mama Special #1 I used to order. There's just too much emphasis on Pineapple on most of their Special Pizzas. Some people (AKA Me) don't like Pineapple on Pizza. Similarly, there's too much emphasis on different types of Meat as toppings for their Supreme Pizzas which is a bit much to stomach through. I'm not saying this is a problem. I just wish there was more interesting options for the toppings of their Supreme and Special Pizzas. The Pepper Chicken Mama Special #4 delivers.

Overall, it falls short in some areas, but otherwise a great Zabiha Halal place to eat at. I still order my food over there from time to time to check the place if any of the original staff members are back or whether the new staff members are doing a good job delivering the same experience and service compared to the original staff members. I just don't want this place to stray...

Dirty restaurant, and overpriced. I though it would be ok because their rating is so high on google....

The staff was pretty rude, like the person in front was only helping you because no one else could do it. Additionally, the interior was extremely dirty. Their is a door covered to a bathroom that is covered in black grease and stains, the coolers up front were similarly greasy and unclean. One customer lefft her receipt on the desk after she paid, when I handed it to the clerk, instead of realizing I was handing him garbage that someone left, he just put it back down on the counter.

As I waited for my food, I couldn't help wondering what their kitchen must look like if they have so little regard for the front. It must be a health hazard. I tried to get a look at the kitchen, but it was too well hidden. Their were burn marks and grease stains all over the entrance to the kitchen.

I ordered the Gyro Fries with Nachos, and a Tuesday special large pizza with sausage.

The Gyro Nacho Cheese Fries were not bad and the reason they even get a single star at all. Good ratios of ingredients, the gyro meat was nothing special, so eating it with fries and nacho cheese was decent.

The pizza was a travesty. Not much different from what you can buy in a gas station. The crust was both bland and soaked in oil. The sauce tasted like chunky ragu. Don't spend your money here, it's all going...

My colleague and I were looking for a Halal place on our last day in Chicago and we end up looking for Halal Pizza which Maria's came up close to us. At first we could not find the place because the outside lights didn't even have the name listed.

We walked into a small place where it had no seating and no TVs or any thing on. It almost seems like the place was abandoned but we were soon introduced by the server who came out from the back asking us what we'd like to get ordered.

We end up ordering a large all meat pizza with sausage and pepperoni and chicken. I would have to say the pizza was definitely worth eating. Does guys have a really nice Pizza taste which was unique to many other places.

I would suggest just updating the restaurant a bit more modern so that way people can enjoy pizza at your location. Turn on your three TVs that you have which displaying maybe some kind of music videos or something and also have your chairs down instead of having them on top of the table which shows that you're closed. This place has a very good potential of becoming a great place to eat at if they can do a little more things by cleaning up the place. I would definitely go back to this place for more pizza in the...
