Umart Foods & Bake Shop is a solid choice for homestyle Filipino food in Hoffman Estates. We ordered bopis, papaitan, beef kaldereta, lechon kawali, and pork and chicken BBQ; all of which were delicious and perfectly cooked. The only dish that fell a little short was the pancit bihon, which could have used more meat and vegetables, though the flavor was still good. For dessert, the maja blanca was just okay, it could have been richer and more flavorful. On the other hand, the breads and snacks were excellent. The uraro cookies were legit and delicious, the ube piaya was so good I wished I had bought more, and the pandesal was soft, fluffy, and fresh. Service was mostly pleasant, the man who checked us out and the older lady who took our orders were both nice and friendly. The woman cashier, however, came across as more businesslike and not as warm. Overall, this was a 4-star experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐. The food and baked goods were authentic and delicious, with just a few areas that could be improved.

I thought that the fried rice will be cooked and made like “sinangag (garlic rice)” like a typical filipino breakfast, but it wasnt. Its so greasy, like minimize the oil you guys use in this bowl 😭 Not worth the 16.99 price.

Love this place. My go to place for Filipino food when I am at work. My coworkers love it here too and they're NOT Filipinos. We love the combo and it's very filling. You can also get soup on the side for free. Also love their fish, egg rolls, and pancit. Just be careful as their food can be on the fatty side but most Filipino food are in the fatty side. lol. Btw, chopsticks available if needed.

Love this place. My go to place for Filipino food when I am at work. My coworkers love it here too and they're NOT Filipinos. We love the combo and it's very filling. Dumbest people. Today 11/22/23 I go there, no one is in there. I stand waiting to be helped, stood for 5mins no one asked finally I said “is anyone going to help me?” The lady in her late 40s replied “oh you wanna buy?” Nahhhh I’m just standing here for fun! Then finally I get my stuff. And no one at the cash register for 4mins I waited. Finally I go back to the food section and asked the same lady “is anyone going to check me out?” She replied “oh you wanna pay?” Nahhhh I want to go and take the food without paying. Do you guys...

Unimart used to be a popular destination for Filipino's and other Asians, even other foreigners to buy they're favorite foods. For the past many years they've been struggling to keep up with other big market store that opened in Chicago like Seafood City and other popular small Filipino restaurants.
