I would like to preface this review by stating that I LOVE ramen and have eaten lots of different varieties from lots of different restaurants. My husband and I both ordered the Spicy Pork Miso. I asked if I could do plain miso instead of spicy miso in mine. When our soups arrived it was obvious by looking at it that mine did not have any miso paste in the broth. I told the server that they must have forgot to put it in, as well as the green onions that were supposed to be in it. She said she would bring me some green onions and miso in a bowl. While we were waiting for her to return with the green onions and miso we also noticed a foul odor, so bad we thought at first that our baby had pooped. He had not pooped. We finally figured out that it was actually my soup. I don’t know if it was the broth or maybe another ingredient in it had spoiled. She came back with a bowl of miso soup with some green onions floating in it. After some mutual confusion and an explanation from me about what miso paste is, she told us that they only have the spicy miso paste and that “the miso is already in the broth”. The whole interaction was very odd because there was obviously no miso in the broth and why didn’t she say something when I ordered it and also what ramen place doesn’t have miso paste? I ended up telling her that my soup was inedible. My husband was able to eat about 30% of his soup before he came to the same conclusion. The only reason for the second star was because we also got crab Rangoon and the chicken karage which were both fine. The server was very sweet but I was pretty disappointed that she didn’t offer to take off at least my ramen considering I couldn’t...
Read moreI think this was a generous score. I was battling between 3 and 4 stars. The lady who took my order was pleasant so I think this made it a 4-star. Service makes a huge difference.
I was starving and came across with this ramen place not too far from Lake Street. It was chilly and I was wanting some comfort food. I ordered crab rangoon, shrimp tempura and spicy shoyu shrimp ramen. The appetizer prices weren’t expensive so I was not expecting much, hence, score was still decent. It will not be my first choice to go to for crab rangoon and shrimp tempura. Crab Rangoon was not filled. It is more of cream cheese rangoon with a tinge of imitation crab. Shrimp tempura has a good crunch on it. The shrimp to batter ratio was ok for the price but I prefer better. It was 25% shrimp, 75% batter. Now the ramen. I am uncertain if the noodles were made there. I have a feeling it wasn’t though it was delicious. The serving was generous and yes, it has this relieving effect. I bet it would be spicy enough for most but I added some shriracha and it was great. Overall, not too bad for the price. It was an ok option but will not be my first option. I’d try the buns next time and will try other ramen options after...
Read moreFirst time here today. I'd rate this place 3.5/5. I ordered the vegetable shoyu ramen. My initial reaction to the bowl, was quite disappointing and the bowl was not very appealing. The ramen noodles were hidden underneath a murky broth and the toppings were sunken and in disarray in this massive-sized bowl. Taste-wise, it was ok, but the broth could have used more flavor or dashi, in my opinion. The bowl itself was pretty typical. Nothing really notable or outstanding. Also, I prefer my ramen steaming hot, cause it makes all the slurping worthwhile. To more disappointment, it was close to being lukewarm.
Also, their card reader was down and they could only take cash, or they'd have to write our credit card information down. Fortunately, I happened to have cash, but I really wouldn't think it's safe to have them write my card info down somewhere. I mean, our server was taking orders on a regular spiral-bound school notebook.
We did use a 20% off any purchase. I'll maybe come back and try their other ramens on the menu as the price was reasonable and other people gave this place...
