Wait time was minimal - we went on a Saturday around 5:00pm - it got much busier in the next hour.
Even though it was completely packed, I never had to wait long to grab food from the buffet. All the food I tasted was HOT, fresh and definitely worth a second trip to try more.
I was impressed at the Sirloin Steak (decent enough for the price alone of the buffet) - it's cooked to order, the grillmaster had several on the grill at one time. Ribs, chicken, WINGS - oh man, the wings were better than most wingstop locations!
Even though the salad bar was large, it seemed like the toppings weren't as elaborate as I remember. But it was decent. Soups are plentiful and although I think the fresh rolls were out everytime I went up to the buffet, there were so many other offerings that I didn't care.
The vegetables were awesome and if you need to watch your diet, there is something for everyone to choose from. I loved the fried fish and popcorn shrimp. They kept putting more out so it was fresh for sure.
I think the lesson here is to definitely go when it's crowded because the food is constantly refreshed and replaced often so you get fresh choices!
Our server was good, slow to clean the table off, but he was definitely swamped with big parties. The restaurant is very loud, so it's not somewhere you can easily hold a conversation without raising your voice a bit.
The dessert bar is amazing - the chocolate fountain allows you to dip strawberries (awesome), marshmallows and Rice Krispy treats. All placed on sticks for you and you just put them under the chocolate fountain and VOILA!
Pies, cakes, ice creams and puddings round out the rest of the dessert items. I believe the prices were good for what we paid as well.
Adults were $14.99 plus the drink of $2.49. Kids are better priced as combos and include drinks... 13 yr old $11.99 and 11 yr old $7.79.
Now I wish I took a photo of the prices, it's hard to find them online anywhere. I would and will go back here. I only found one dirty plate on the plate pile - but - there is absolutely nothing that would stop me from coming back. Especially since it's new and refreshed...just go when it's busy and you should have hot and fresh food each and everytime to...
Read moreI've never been to a Golden Corral but always wanted to eat at one being that so many people raved about the food. Not sure about other locations but the one in Schererville, Indiana was terrible...even though it was advertised as bigger and better there was absolutely NOTHING good about this location. The place was packed which I figured it might be since it was a Saturday. However, that wouldn't have been a problem except that the service was so bad from the time we got there until the time we left which was about 1 1/2 hours. Management was called to the front over and over again. The lines to get any type of meat were always long because there was only ONE server. Another employee who was carving meat at the salad bar didn't wear any gloves. I monitored a carved turkey which sat in the open in the middle of the meat section the whole time I was there and nobody bothered to replace it. I got a baked potato and couldn't even cut it open because it was hard and not fully cooked. Food and condiment trays were NOT being restocked on a regular basis as they should be. There was ALWAYS a shortage of most of the food so your choices were very slim. It was a waiting game for everything! The ice cream machine was out of ice cream but nobody ever refilled it again. Utensil cases were constantly running out so you had to wait for a server to bring more. Dining room servers took forever to pick up the dirty plates that were being left on the tables...AND they would forget to refill your drinks. It was like the employees couldn't keep up with the large crowd. As for the actual food, it was definitely nothing to rave about. Needless to say it was a total waste of money and I won't be visiting THIS Golden...
Read moreThe food was good and the restaurant was very clean. I only gave 3 stars because when I went, I did take out. I recently had knee surgery. I needed 3 orders to make to take to go. My knee started hurting, so I sat at a table to rest my knee and an employee there asked me why I was sitting. I told her I had different dinners to make and needed to get off my knee for a couple minutes. She was very rude about it. I looked around and there were plenty of tables left for others to sit who were dining in. I just needed a couple minutes to rest my knee. She proceeded to roll her eyes and walked away. This was on the first day they opened back up. I seen the manager, but I can tell he was very busy. He was walking quickly doing a bit of everything and I'm thinking he was just trying to do his best to make sure everything was running smoothly. The cashier was very nice and so were the cooks, but shame on that waitress. She had no idea the pain I was in and could care less to hear about it. We've always been loyal customers in the past before covid. By the time I got home, I was still in pain and didn't eat my food until later because I layed down and fell asleep after taking pain medications. I was gonna call the restaurant when I got up and talk to the manager about my experience, but with everything that had happened and with how I was feeling, I decided to let it go instead of upsetting myself again. I can't say for sure if I'll be back there. It was 1 waitress who made my experience terrible. Not all...
