I've been eating at Sely's for many years now. On Wednesday evenings, myself and a group of 4 to 12 others meet there to share a meal. About 1/2 order the #6 special - 2 enchiladas, a puffy taco, a chalupa, and rice, beans, and 2 tortillas. Absolutely the best meal and supremely filling. $5.99
On Friday nights, I occasionally go for the #1 special - 2 enchiladas, 2 puffy tacos, guacamole, rice, beans, and 2 tortillas. Another excellent, filling meal - $5.99.
On Sundays, I occasionally go for the #2 special for lunch - 2 enchiladas, a puffy taco, rice, beans, and 2 tortillas - $5.99. Until recently, they served an excellent chicken or beef fajita special - $5,99. Sadly, they just recently began closing on Mondays and the fajita special may be changed to another day when new menus are made.
The bottom line is Sely's sells superior quality Tex-Mex with specials always $5.99 from 11 a.m. to closing. I've never had a bad meal there and there is only one other restaurant that shares that perfect record.
IF there is a gripe that some people may have, it is that on most evenings, Sely's is full or nearly full of regular diners. We know beforehand that getting our meal will take longer than the norm. We understand completely. We also know that the wait staff clears and cleans the tables along with taking orders, bringing and refilling drinks, bringing and refilling tostadas and salsa - BTW, the green sauce is very, very nice - and serving the meals. Sely's staff, from top to bottom, does the very best. No one can serve 100 meals immediately but I assure you they will get you your order and it will be hot and delectable. IF you're new, you may resent what you might term "slow service." It's not slow, they are usually slammed for some or all of every evening. DON'T...
Read moreThis was my first and probably my last time eating at this restaurant. I had never been here and wanted to try it but that was a mistake. I ordered sweet tea to drink and ended up with unsweetened tea lucky them they had sweeten low on the table so I was able to fix that myself. I didn’t eat all my chips because I wanted to be able to eat my food but one of the waitresses saw I moved it away and asked if I wanted more and I kindly said no thank you but despite the fact that I wasn’t finished that waitress rudely just took the chips with her and threw it away didn’t even bother asking if I was done with them. For my dinner I ordered 3 cheeses enchiladas I asked for rice and refried beans with no tomatoes and lettuce and absolutely no tortillas. Well guess what this waitress brings my food out with double rice and tortillas. I immediately asked where the beans were and she said oh you wanted double rice. I said no ma’am I said rice and refried beans and also said no tortillas. Instead of apologizing she just takes the plate back there and just said some refried beans on the plate and brought it back to me with in 20 seconds. Didn’t even make the effort to make it look nice on the plate. And then when I went to pay not once while I was paying did they ask me how everything was or did i enjoy everything or anything. They could have cared less. But not once did i get anything i asked for the right way the first time. And the service and experience was so bad I didn’t even leave a tip especially since my waitress never apologized and no one cared to ask how my experience was. Now if this is the best they can do Well good luck to yall. Again this was my first time here and I’m not sure I’ll...
Read moreHad two breakfast tacos there on Saturday morning, June 14, 2015. That was ok, nothing special to 'write home about'. Then, on Sunday morning, June 14, 2015, between 7:30 and 8:00am, I along with a group of people (approximately 10 individuals including myself) had breakfast at Selys. I ordered the Bacon Omelet Plate which included diced potatoes and re-fried beans. I had a bite of the omelet and potatoes. When I got my first bite of the beans I pulled up an item with strings of long hair attached. I picked it up by one of the hairs and it turned out to be an object about two and a half to three inches in length and between a quarter and half inch in width. I took the plate to the gentleman directing patrons to their tables, picking up the item from the beans and asked if he could tell me what it was. His comment was, "No, what is it?" I replied that was what I was asking him. I then placed the plate in his hands telling him that "I don't want that plate" and went back to my table. About four or five minutes later he and the waitress came back to the table, she was very apologetic about the incident. The gentleman stated in an arrogant tone that "It was just a piece of rag." When one of the other people at the table asked if they were going to fix me another plate the gentleman replied (again in an arrogant tone) the I had said that I did not want a plate. Which I corrected him by saying that I had said that I did not want THAT plate. I asked for the omelet plate WITHOUT beans. When it came time to pay the bill, we were still charged full price for that plate.
After much personal deliberation I filed a complaint with the City of Schertz Environmental/Health Code Enforcement...
