Cato Fashions — Local services in Schertz

I'll start off with the fact that I LOVE Cato's clothing and going shopping for myself (as a mother of 3) is such an exciting thing.

The reason for 3 stars is due to service. The employees are always older women that seem stuck up and I'm not sure why. I probably make more than all of them combined, but because I don't dress up to come in (just jeans and tennis shoes), or because I appear young, I don't get greeted when I walk in like everyone else. At least 5 or 6 others walked in after me and each was greeted happily. The employees (3 yesterday) just stared awkwardly at me for the most part. Again, not sure why.

When I had a pile I needed to try on, I asked politely for a fitting room and thanked her at least twice that I can remember, and all I was met with was silence and a blank face.

When I was ready to check out, the woman did not greet me, ask if I found everything OK, nothing. No comments, just all business. I purposely did not fill the silence so she could feel how strange it was. She finally made a comment about the last garment she was folding. Such a strange experience. I really was so excited to buy a few new things yesterday as I finally had some alone time without the children, and these employees made me feel like Julia Roberts on Pretty Woman. Except they don't work on Rodeo drive, they work in a clothing store outside of Walmart...

I did not have a 5 star experience when I visited this location last Saturday. Elle greeted me and helped me with some outfits, she also pointed out some great finds in clearance as she began to ring up a customer the other 2 employees ran to the register yelling at her to not touch the register making customers feel very uncomfortable and asking questions. The other employee was told to keep cleaning, & stay away from the front area. I over heard one customer comment perhaps due to the color of her skin, she was made to clean instead of a customer service another asked Elle was she a thief or something...I have shopped at this location, & Elle has always been very friendly & helpful, she has checked me out & never had any problems. This is a big insult to that employee as now she is now being used as the cleaning lady & not to associate with customers. One woman stated she has seen this done on other occasions, and decided to no longer shop at this location, due to the embarrassment of this incident & abuse of this good person and she left and so did I. This was an insult to me as a woman of a different skin tone. The managers was very unprofessional like wearing jeans, purple hair and overalls while Elle is always immaculately dressed how can you justify embarrassing & humiliating employees in front...

Cato's will not let you try on merchandise due to Covid. I bought some clothes from the Cato's at 1604 and Nacogdoches. When I tried to return them, there was a sign on the door saying closed until further notice.

So, I took them to the store at Schertz. The lady was very hateful because at first I was going to keep one of the pairs of pants and they decided it wasn't worth the effort. She told me, "Thanks a lot for causing me to do another void today."

I had my receipt, so they supposedly refunded my bank account.

That was December 22nd, today is January 7th, and I still haven't received a refund. My bank says there is nothing pending from Cato's bank. When I called I was told it was probably because of the holidays. When I buy something from them it comes out immediately regardless of whether it's a holiday or not.

I called the helpline. The first number they gave me was incorrect, but the lady at the corporate office gave me the correct number. I called that number and left a message on December 30th. I still haven't heard anything from anybody and I still don't have my money back.

No, I definitely do not recommend...
