I would like to save anyone thinking of going here by describing the experience we just had. I understand that some places are understaffed, but we were sitting in a room where half the tables were empty. First, we had a reservation at 5pm, which is about when we were seated. We did not receive water or any type of acknowledgement for 15-20 minutes, even though the person that we would discover was our server had walked by our table multiple times. After ordering our entree, we waited 55 minutes for our food, in that time our original drinks were empty for at least 30 minutes while our waiter walked by us multiple times to the table behind us to deliver a to go box and check. Our food finally arrived lukewarm and even then he did not ask if we wanted more drinks (all of our empty glasses, water and drinks, were plainly visible). I had to actually stop him when he tried to drop off our food and immediately turned to walk away just so I could get my water refilled. We could not wait to get out of there, but as we were leaving a different server came out of the kitchen with a large tray of food which she was putting on a tray jack to one side of the main aisle. I stopped and gave her room, not wanting to bump her or have her bump into me if she didn’t know I was behind her. When I said “excuse me, I don’t want to bump you”, she turned around and replied “well you could have just gone the other way” by which she meant all the way to the back of the restaurant in between the booths and tables and out through the bar instead of the main aisle way that led to the exit door. I can’t imagine why anyone would go to this restaurant a second time. I would much rather go to a restaurant who actually cares if their customers have a good dining experience like Knights or the Westside Sports Bar, than to a place that sees the customer as an inconvenience. We had high hopes of a new place to put into our weekly rotation, but I’ve had better service at the McDonald’s on Baker Rd when they only had 2 employees working the whole restaurant.

Saw this place once on a drive through this part of town, looked up the menu and saw they had chilaquiles, so I made it a point to try it out. Not bad! The atmosphere is definitely "southern inspired" but not too over the top (by which I mean its not a cracker barrel type). I ordered the chilaquiles, which doesn't come with any sides so I also order the breakfast potatoes. The serving was HUGE which was nice until I remembered 1) chilaquiles don't reheat well and 2) I don't really want that many tortillas in one sitting. So I only ate like a third of it. I will say that what I did have was right-on for what I want out of chilaquiles-- salsa verde, thick tortilla chips, crema and queso fresco. I'd probably order it again if I was C R A V I N G chilaquiles (which is not uncommon for me) but otherwise skip it. Maybe if they served it with beans and rice and reduced the serving of chilaquiles. Anyway, the potatoes were fine and so was the coffee. I'm definitely going to go back and try other menu items, like the shrimp and grits.

My girlfriends and I went here for brunch. I had looked at the menu beforehand and there was only a handful of things I would eat, since I’m picky. Most stuff had feta or stuff I didn’t want in it. I stuck with the grilled chicken sandwich and let me tell you, it was not good. It was served on Texas toast, which was too buttery and the wrong shape and size completely for the chicken. The chicken breast was thin and too small for the bread and the sandwich was doused in avacado aioli and was dripping! The chips were just ok. My friend got a grilled chicken side salad, which looked good. Other friend got the breakfast plate, said it was ok, and the other one got a pasta dish (don’t remember the name) and she said it was very good. The yard was cool with yard games and fun things. The deck outside had a shade cover which was nice since it was hot. The server was nice, but after we paid, she never came back to give us water or anything even though we were there for like another hour talking. I probably won’t be going back.

I tried pretty much everything we all had (7 of us). I'll start by saying the waitress was perfectly fine and no issues with her. The food was sub par.

First off we chose to go there because the online menu said they had a fried chicken dinner. I didn't even need to look at the menu except, when I did, I noticed it wasn't on there. Yep, 9 days in and they took it down. They still had a fried chicken sandwich, but no chicken dinner.

The apps were ok. We ordered the Ceviche, Ravioli and the Tomato puffs. The ceviche was really lacking in seasoning and flavor, but the chips were good. Presentation was meh. Ravioli was pretty good. The tomato puffs were maybe one of the better things we had.

Next up, was my kid ordered the steak frites. Yep, they are out of steak. You are within jogging distance from Meijer. Go get some. Hell I think you can even get someone to deliver groceries to you.

I finished up my Brazilian Caipirinha. Mediocre at best. No limes in the drink and clearly not muddled like its supposed to be. Seemed like just lime juice and simple syrup. Half the enjoyment of the drink is seeing all the lime wedges in the drink similar to a Mojito. Brazilian specialty drinks, if you are going to list them on your specialty menu, better be made the right way. I went to order a M-43 IPA. Yep, they are out of that as well.

One kid ordered the lobster mac and cheese. I can't tell if the line cook forgot to actually make the cheese sauce with flour or the pasta wasn't drained at all. Flat out the cheese sauce was horrible. Lobster was ok.

Daughter ordered the pulled pork sliders. There is supposed to be tang in the sauce as it has apple cider vinegar in it, but this was over the top and lacked any sort of balance. It was straight vinegar taste.

Wife ordered the juicy lucy. It was ok. No seasoning on the meat. Bacon didn't really look that great either. Fries are supposed to be amazing here, but they came out luke warm and barely crispy.

I ordered the short ribs after learning there's no fried chicken. Grits were ok. If you are going to advertise the short ribs were braised in a mole sauce, you better have some mole sauce drizzled over the top at least. Short ribs are bone in and not the weird nuggets of meat I got. Veggies on the undercooked side. Would not order again.

Other son ordered the Hot Brown. That was 4 star. It was actually pretty tasty. Only knock is you throw bacon on the top as a presentation piece. Get some decent bacon. Thick cut, and make it look good. The wibbly Oscar Meyer package stuff doesn't cut it. Dish could easily blow people away with some detail work.

Dessert was meh. The Tiramisu was ok with no actual hint of coffee. Very sweet and tasted more like pudding. The cheesecake tasted really old, super dense and more like wallpaper paste. The bourbon cake and ice cream were ok. It was somewhat dry. I was looking forward to something more akin to a rum cake that is super rich and juicy with actual rum flavor.

The place was not that crowded when we got there. Someone isn't either tasting any of the food or someone doesn't care. Maybe we'll give it a year and see if they are still in business. Based on this...

So I made a reservation for two, once upon arrival we were seated by the bar area. I just wanna tell you that we were an interracial couple, even though they were multiple seats in the main dining area that they could’ve sat us in and no it was not a closed area because they were customer seated in that area. So that was unusual because we were seated next to only people of color in the bar area. When you look outside the bar area, it was nothing but white people. But I decided to give them the benefit of a doubt. The waitress arrived at our table. Did not say hello did not introduce herself. She placed two glasses of ice water without straws and walked away. When she did come back, still did not introduce herself and asked us if we were ready to order, at this time I was not ready since it’s my first time and I wanted to review the menu so I politely said if she could give us a few minutes, but I am ready to place a cocktail order. She took my cocktail order without saying a word and walked away. She came back with my cocktail and asked us if we were ready to order at that time. I said yes I placed my order, my Husband placed his order and I asked her if we could have straws because I do not like to drink my cocktail without a straw. She didn’t respond and walked away. That was the last time we saw her. The food arrived by another server, and that’s when I asked if I can have a straw, and the server grabbed it off the bar and tossed it on the table. The food was ok, nothing special. Before we were done eating another server, dropped off a to go box (even though we didn’t ask for one) and dropped off the bill without saying anything again. We paid the bill, left a lousy tip, wrote on the receipt why the tip was low, and proceeded to walk out. I always leave a minimum of 15% tip even for mid service, this is the first time in my 50 years that I left less but the service we received truly was offensive. So I will keep my hard earned money to spend somewhere else. 1st and last time I would step a foot...
