Main Star — Restaurant in Scotch Plains

As a person who has been a regular there I should break down the different stars I would give to each category of this Chinese food place. I have also ordered well over 18 lunches and well over 1.5 years with this place.

Food - 3/5 It is good Chinese takeout, the only reason I give it a 3/5 is because you have a 70/30 chance of good/bad food. The good being great and tasteful. The bad being meatless(for general Taos where they put all breeding and burn it).

The Service - 1/5 Seriously this is a 90/10 split from bad/good. Bad being they ignore you actually giving them the order, hangup on you and when you come to get it completely ignore you standing there, instead of helping you they will be on their phone or other things. This is a new thing that I noticed within this month where the guy that they have at the front desk doesn't give the amount it costs over the phone or the time span it will take to make it and he'll be on the phone while you are standing right there and your food is already made. I actually had him tell me after he took my order today when I came to pick it up that I did not ask for non spicy. Now I have ordered well over 18 times from the same number and I only order two things on the menu which they have gotten before exactly correct; chicken broccoli and general Taos chicken(non spicy). Even if he were new or something else, he should have gone over the order with me but instead he asked if there was anything else and I said, "no that is all" and all e stated after that was "ok bye". No price. No time frame.

The Price - 4/5 The only reason why this is not 5/5 is because sometimes I have gotten hard rice or general Taos that is only the breaded part and no chicken. The price is amazing for how much you get, which is a lot.

I gave 2/5 because in general customer service consitancy is not there and the consitancy with food is not there either. I was a regular for a long time but I feel like the new guy they have gotten is unattentive and rude because he's always on his phone at work, instead of taking an order correctly and giving the correct information.

I will try to update this if I can in the future but after today where I got no cost told, no time to pick it up and then told when I got there that I didn't tell him something that is a regular I have gotten for well over a year it's frustrating to know. No this isn't the first time I have had a bad experience, it's actually been the past month or so ordering from them so I am going to stop today.

This is my first Google Review-I've never left one, positive or negative, but feel compelled to do so after my experience tonight. We have been ordering from Main Star 1-2 times per week for the past 2 years. Placed an order tonight at 6:37 pm. Restaurant called at 8:02 pm and said they couldn't deliver because we are too far from the restaurant. We pointed out that they have delivered to us at this address before and they replied "we ran out of food". We questioned why they didn't tell us that at 6:37 pm-we would have ordered from somewhere else at that point. Their response was that they could bring our order "in an hour" which would have been at 9:02 pm. We did not want to wait over 2 hours to eat dinner after 9:00 at night. Just placed an order with #1 Restaurant 1748 East Second Street in Scotch Plains. Food was delivered promptly with no issues. Will never order from Main Star again-bad...

i order food there yesterday , as i m indian i lov spicy food so i order lunch special garlic sauce with chicken white rice and with 5 hot oil as with one lunch i order 5 hot oil they wanted me to pay $1 extra which was fine by me so my total suppose to be 7.16 as food and .50 tax plus $1 for oil , 8.69 , on recipe it was 9.69 so i asked the driver y its 10$ and he told me ITS 10$ MINIMUM FOR DELIVERY , i felt like for lunch special he said yes, then in front of him i call the main star and i told this to the lady on phone and i dnt what they were taking in there language , my point is that if its $10 minimum then my food total should be 10bucks plus tax he did fraud with me and i m gonna take this to the owner for sure so people make sure to confirm the price after u order food on phone and match th number...
