Look Twice Upscale Resale Boutique — Local services in Scotch Plains

My partner and I went to Look Twice a couple of weeks ago and we had an interaction with the owner that was very homophobic.

An hour into the owner looking at our clothes I brought in a bag with shoes in it that was rainbow and the owner immediately asked whose bag it was?

I said it was mine and then my partner offered to sell it to her (because this is a consignment store) the owner immediately said oh no I don’t want to buy that. She then proceeded to say very insensitive very homophobic speech in front of my partner and I. She said she doesn’t care what people do but she doesn’t want it shoved in her face and that men kissing was “disgusting”, LGBTQ+ people shouldn’t be on tv, etc.

She then asked how my partner and I knew each other and I quickly said we were best friends as I was extremely uncomfortable in the situation.

This buisness also has a sticker on google that says “LGBTQ+ friendly” which is definitely not true. Also, at the end of our interaction the owner was telling us how kind, friendly, and funny we were so it just goes to show you that even though she was talking about how disgusting gay people are, the nice friendly funny gay people were right in...

Owner is downright rude. Said one price for an item one day and then switched up the price another day and said I had lied. Then proceeded to be rude for the entire interaction. Also makes insensitive comments with customers right in the store. With so many nice consignment store/boutique owners in NJ, I definitely will not be shopping here anymore. It’s 2024, let’s stop contributing to the pay of people who would smile at you to your face but disrespect you behind your back the next. Also I recall her making a comment once about “women who are with women,” so LGBTQ+ shoppers beware.

EDIT: I am not my MIL, I am the person you originally spoke to and gave the price on the item “two weeks ago.” And I heard your comment that day. Seeing that i’m not the first one that has mentioned your comments about LGBTQ individuals and your rudeness, it’s clear that you are the one that is in the wrong. Called today but closed when it says open online what a scam I have millions of dollars of real fur coats but no one around I’ll go elsewhere.
