Max's Pizza & Bistro — Restaurant in Scotch Plains

An unexpected find!! Was out wedding dress shopping, and needed a place for lunch with my ladies to celebrate saying YES to the dress!! Max's isn't a fancy place, but it is perfect for a quick, delicious meal! The establishment was clean, the staff friendly, and the service we received was excellent. We ordered a bowl of tortellini en brodo, and it was very good! It came in a large bowl filled with fresh spinach, tasty broth, and plenty of perfectly cooked tortellini! The server offered some grated pecorino romano cheese to top it off! We also ordered chicken Parm, veal parm, shrimp Parm, and cheese steak sandwiches. The bread was crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside...perfection! The portions were very large, and the pricing was great!! It was a wonderful celebratory lunch! Now back to the diet...have to fit in that...

My new favorite Italian restaurant in Scotch Plains! Our first time we had a Margherita Pie delivered. It was the best Margherita pizza I've had since my trip to Italy in 2019! Next, we ordered delivery again - fried calamari & chicken saltimbocca. The food arrived hot, the calamari was crisp, the chicken delicious. Finally, we decided to eat there on my recent birthday. It's a BYO, so we brought a couple of bottles of wine. I enjoyed the chicken piccata, my husband enjoyed the linguine with white clam sauce. The portions were abundant. I was looking for a new local pizza place so I decided to try Max’s. I ordered a cheese steak sandwich with peppers & onions. When I went to pick it up, the price was $1 higher than their website specified. I questioned the difference & showed the lady manager my phone to verify the price. She immediately threw a dollar & a printed menu at me after copping an attitude. It wasn’t the dollar difference, I was only pointing out they should make sure their website should match their actual prices. She said she was too busy to deal with this.
