It's deeply pleasing to take a drive through Kings Village, in Scotts Valley, and be reassured that the very first Erik's Deli still serves as a landmark there since 1973. I was a young 13 when my folks would treat my twin brother and I to an outstanding experience in THIS VERY SPECIAL DELI in 1977. The family and I would divulge our saved appetites here often, throughout the following 2 decades, and never an iota of a let down. Adventurous sandwiches and soups/salads to satisfy delightfully. A special mention must be honored though; An order of THE BEST clam chowder served up in a sourdough loaf bowl IS A PRIZE FOR MANY PATRONS - a must have dish!! For some various reasons, my path led me elsewhere... away from Erik's warm comforts for too long of an absence (about 25 years, although I still resided amongst these beautiful mountains & valleys with their gulches and folds teeming with life). Until just last weekend, my young neighbor suggested eating lunch at Erik's Deli, since we were in Scotts Valley for a remedy of resolve. I am 59 now, and upon walking through the entrance doors up to the ordering counter, I was transmuted instantly to a youth of my teens again (as the atmosphere was pristinely preserved EXACTLY as I remembered). Excitedly, without referring to the menu, I recalled all my favorite memories of sandwiches. As the pot of clam chowder tempted my friend and I through the deli glass, a "Sea Dog" and "Marrakesh Express" sandwiches, respectively, were ordered. We both gave in to 'the temptation' without a pause, and added 2 large servings of Erik's Clam Chowder to warm our innards.😇😇 ABSOLUTELY AND IMPECCABLY DELICIOUS. ALL OF IT!! Great job and high regards to the staff. I flat out fell in love with this place AGAIN. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! (and a heartfelt appreciation for my young neighbor's suggestion, which led us to this gem of refreshing proportions... for my own special tryst and fond reunion. FIVE STARS, BABY!!🤤😊 See you again, very soon!! 👊 🐉🦉🐉 ~ Happy Thanksgiving Day to my loved ones and...
Read moreAbout two years ago, my wife went here and had a soup that was rancid. When she asked for new soup or a refund the employee was rude and dismissed her. I use to live by a different Erik's that I loved, so occasionally when I'm with my wife and we want to go out I offer Erik's, she always brings that terrible experience up. Today I said that was a while ago maybe they are better now, I convince her to give it a shot. We ordered, her sandwiched tasted off, I tasted it and it was real bad. After my sandwich I spread my dressing on my salad the dressing was old and smelled and tasted off. We were done and bussed our table and left. They serve spoiled food, we are never...
Read moreFor soups and sandwiches you can’t beat the tried and true Eric’s Deli. It’s a chain and I’ve been coming for years. This particular location in Scotts Valley is good, a bit hidden but always parking. We usually get the soup and sandwich combos or when sick we just get a big “pot” with a piece of bread. It’s wholesome food and reminds me of the 80’s when everyone was putting sprouts in sandwiches (you can get...
