We read the reviews of this place and many people say its the best buffet they ever had in their life. My question to them would be is the only place you've ever eaten besides YOKI is a department of corrections prison cafeteria??? The food at this place was absolutely horrible. It has no taste, no seasoning and almost every single item is sitting on cold steam tables. There is a very limited selection of food and the Hibachi selection and "Cook" is a joke. As a trained cook/Chef, it absolutely pisses me off when food is wasted by improper preparation. I'm not sure how you can bread and fry shrimp until it has the consistency of 1800's shoe leather, but they have that mastered! Then sitting in the middle of the less than satisfactory desert area is raw oysters!! You have got to be insane placing these right next to other foods. Then right after bringing our drinks and us getting our first plate back to the table, I'm asked will this be on one check or separate? How about allowing the customer to at least take a few bites before you start talking about the check! The one plate was enough for me, which I did not finish. While my other two guests tried to find anything edible, I looked around. Posted at every single table was a note in reference to "wasting food" (I attached a picture to this review). The note advised that if you waste food by leaving it on your plate, they reserve the right to "FINE YOU" for wasting food. Here's a novel idea YOKI, prepare food that is actually edible and maybe there would be less left on the plates!!! Your food is wasted the moment your non cooks prepared it. $60 for three people for food that tasted like hammered dog poop! DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT eat at this place, run as fast as you can. You will find better Cuisine at the McDonalds down the highway from them. The name of this place should be...
Read moreI accidentally discovered Yoki Buffet on a Wal Mart run in Scottsboro. It was a Wednesday around 5 p.m. I was hungry and decided to take a chance. Glad I did. They have the best Hot Sour soup I've had in ages. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There was freshly rolled sushi PLUS a hibachi grill with what appeared to be fresh proteins and veggies. Since I had already downed two cups of soup, I opted for small servings of some of their Buffet fare, which is the standard Chinese dishes in addition to several American food like pork tenderloin, fried catfish, potato wedges, and good crisp stir-fried whole green beans. I especially liked the boiled shrimp displayed on ice. It was cooked perfectly (not soft or mushy, but firm with an almost sweet taste like shrimp is supposed to taste). To my delight, there were also oysters on the half shell, AND they were also fresh and tasty. I returned two days later because I kept thinking about the soup. Again, I wasn't disappointed. I've been back two more times in the last month, even taking 4 friends with me to share in this delightful find in Scottsboro. Don't think you'll find new, exotic dishes here. No sir, you will find an above average Chinese buffet serving above average tasting standard dishes at a reasonable price. It's a good place to eat when you feel the need for Chinese. If you like oysters and shrimp, you're in for...
Read moreWe stopped by after visiting the unclaimed baggage store. The food was on the average side. I agree with another reviewer here that the highlight is the service. Everyone was friendly and made sure to take care of their guests.
My husband went straight to the hibachi and filled his plate with beef, he enjoyed his food. I tried a little piece and it was not bad. Their sushi was okay, kind of on par with grocery store sushi. None of their protein really stood out to me. Their seafood delight was pretty good but was a little bland. My favorite dish was actually their mushroom with lobster sauce. This was excellent, the mushroom had the right texture and it was so flavorful! I got this on my second plate and wished I had mixed this with the seafood delight on my 1st plate. The other dish I actually got seconds on was this strange looking phyllo dough tart. Not sure if it was phyllo dough it was thin and crispy but maybe not quite as thin as phyllo dough. I thought it was some sort of seafood mixture inside, but it was a slightly sweet bread (almost like a bread pudding) in the middle of the crunchy crust. I loved it! It's basically a dessert, but I've never had anything like it before but I'm a fan. I didn't try any of their other desserts except for the ice cream cup.
Our lunch for 3 with 3 drinks came out to be less than 40 before...
