Budgetel Inn — Hotel in Scottsboro

The bathroom had a loose jiggly toilet and the shower backed up, there was some sort of makeup sponge thin in the drain so clearly they don't clean well. There were visible stains on the blanket, smaller than most rooms we stayed at on our trip. The cable was static-y and the desk gave us no wifi password. The whole vibe was weird. I think people live in these rooms because we pulled in and there is a crowd of people sitting in camp chairs at the front door in the parking lot, you go in and reception is more of a day care with little kids and toys scattered everywhere. Kids were riding bikes and scooters all over the parking lot and giving hand signs and little ones as small as Id say 6 or 7 flipping you off while I waited in the car for my husband to get out key. Some random person knocked on our door around midnight. I was so happy to get out of there. The staff was fairly unfriendly. They acted like we were an inconvenience being there. We had made our reservation ahead of time and when we got there they didn't have the room we requested, I guess thinking we would leave but we were tired and said we'd take a different room and magically our other room...

If I could give zero stars for the room I would. Booked a non-smoking room, showed up to the room smelling of smoke. Left for the day came back and "room service" smoked in the room while "cleaning" it. (They left behind their butt) AC didn't work correctly. Flys came out of hole in sink. Clumps of hair on floor. Toilet used before we checked in and was left with evidence behind (ew). Every fabric had stains or holes. Had no other choice to stay, but will NEVER return to this place. The lady who checked us in was nice and told us about restaurants. And when we needed something they did bring it to us. There is NO pool no matter what is written anywhere on any booking site or their own. It is broken and hasn't worked in years. They need to put money into repairs. Location is fine. My boyfriend and I have been here for a couple of months now, and honestly we couldn't have picked a better place! We're new to the area and haven't found an apartment yet. Misty, the housekeeper, is super kind and makes sure we have everything we need. Jessi, who works at the desk, is super kind. Tujin, the owner, is incredibly accommodating and just a rad dude. The room was clean when we moved in, the heat/AC works fabulously, water pressure is grand, the tub has a stopper switch if you feel like a bath, sheets are soft and clean, coffee maker in the room, our bikes are safe outside, quiet neighborhood, cable TV and fast wifi, the list goes on.
