I have been eating at New York Pizza Department since I moved Scottsdale 5 years ago. I love the pizza here — it has a crust with great flavor and excellent consistency, not too crispy and not too soft. My favorite pizza creations in their menu are the Quattro Formaggi, the Brooklyn Family, and Joey's Favorite, but the scope their menu offers something for everyone, including vegetarian and white or pesto pizzas (what's a pizza without marinara?). Salads, pasta, calzones and appetizers are all solid, and the tastiest thing to split before digging into pizza are the garlic cheese knots. The Scottsdale location is just the best — in all my weekends and weekday evening dining here I have never encountered large crowds or a rowdy atmosphere. The restaurant is the perfect place to hang out with family and friends, because you can enjoy a leisurely, pleasant meal without interruptions. It's also good if you need a quiet place to snack and work alone for two hours. The staff is also very friendly, and over the course of my patronage, I've had several regular servers who have come to know our drink order. Additionally, you can't beat the cost of your food when dining out with two people, and there are several weekly specials where the second pizza you order is half off or kids eat free after 4 pm. If you have never tried New York Pizza Department, it is seriously one of the best pizza places you can find...
Read moreI placed an order for our work team and loved the entire experience. The prices are a little up there for what is at the end of the day just a regular sized pizza but the quality with which it was made was top-tier. We really enjoyed the margarita pizza and the meat lovers was very filling without being too heavy on the stomach. I loved the attentive service I received from their kitchen. We had instructed for our margarita pizza to be extra crispy and their team took the initiative of confirming with us if our order was crispy enough before cutting the pie so that was appreciated. The only part that was slightly disappointing was the fact that we also ordered the bruschetta and in the end it was basically just small French bread slices in a box, what looks like pico in a small container and a little vinaigrette dressing all set apart so it’s not the other world. It makes sense considering they don’t want the bread to be soggy, but it’s also not what was advertised as the visual item on their menu Maybe if the size of the bread at the very least looked like the size and shape of the picture displayed I wouldn’t comment on it. other than that I loved the interior. I loved the food and I loved the service. I would definitely...
Read moreMy Pizza Pal and I were in search of a good Sicilian style pizza, which isn't easy since not many pizza places in the valley make it. I hadn't been to a NYPD Pizza in years, so I was due to pay them a visit. We ordered their full sized Sicilian pie with sausage (they offer a half-size, which is rare and a nice option, but we were planning for leftovers) and a house salad. The salad appeared to have been pre-assembled and refrigerated - which rendered many of the veggies limp. The pizza was a great surprise. It was huge, and thick and chewy - like a Sicilian pizza is supposed to be - with a good crispy crunch on the bottom of the crust. Little more dense than a lot of Sicilian pizzas I've had, but it was still a good textured crust. It had a good tangy sauce and plenty of the very tasty Italian sausage in every bite. One of the better Sicilian pizzas I have found in Phoenix. We also ordered some Zeppolis for dessert, which came out to us piping hot and fresh. This location isn't too big, in a nice location near the Airpark and shopping, very friendly staff, and a nice dinning area. Good spot the...
