Taco Papi — Restaurant in Scottsdale

I went in today for early mother's day with my boyfriend and his family. What makes this place stand out from any other taco place I've tried is their indian fusion menu! I got the chicken tikka taco and the paneer taco. I tried the chicken tikki and paneer alone and they were DELICIOUS as they were. The salsas add freshness to these dishes, but it can definitely be eaten the way it comes and still tastes great. I also had the quesabirria taco. The quesabirria was one of the best quesabirria taco I've had in the valley. My boyfriend even ordered 3! Next time I would like to try the birria ramen. I hope it will stay on the menu for me!

The rest of our family had more traditional tacos such as carne asada and barbacoa. Solid tacos. I think what makes this place stand out are the items that make this place different from any other taco shop - such as the indian fusion tacos and some of their salsas. The salsa bar was great. There were some salsas that were different than traditional salsas - one was peanut based!!! It had a great kick. Definitely recommend people with good spice tolerance to try! Lastly the drinks - we had gotten horchata, horchata with coffee, and some sodas. The star of the drinks was definitely horchata with coffee! My boyfriend's mother said it reminded her of horchata in Mexico....

Listen, I may look like I season my food with hope and good intentions, but this place awakened something deep in my soul that I'm pretty sure was always meant to love authentic Mexican cuisine. Every single dish was a flavor explosion that made me question why I ever thought mild salsa counted as "spicy."The salsa bar alone deserves its own Yelp page. Multiple options ranging from "my grandmother could handle this" to "why is my face leaking?" - and I fearlessly tried them all. Yes, I was sweating. Yes, it was glorious. Yes, I went back for more because apparently I enjoy culinary pain when it tastes this good.The chef here clearly doesn't believe in holding back, and my previously under-seasoned palate is eternally grateful. I walked in looking like I order chicken tenders at every restaurant, but I'm walking out as someone who now understands what "bursting with flavor" actually means.To the chef and staff: thank you for showing this flavor-starved soul what real Mexican food tastes like. I don’t even know where to begin — Taco Papi is next-level incredible! I came in hungry and left obsessed. Their birria tacos are insane — rich, juicy, tender, and packed with that slow-cooked flavor that hits you right in the soul. The consomé? Drinkable. I’m not kidding.

Then I tried the tikka tacos and my mind was blown. Who knew Indian spice and Mexican street food could marry so perfectly? The tikka was bold, creamy, spicy, and so unique — truly a flavor bomb.

And don’t even get me started on the ramen. YES, they have ramen — and it’s legit. Deep, umami-packed broth, perfect noodles, and that fusion twist that makes it completely unforgettable.

Oh, and the service? Absolutely top-notch. Friendly, fast, and they make you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. You can tell the crew cares about the food and the people they’re serving.
