I'll try to be brief.... When first approaching, you are greeted by an architectural wonder. From the life-like octopus, to the pirate ship, to the large geodesic dome.... You can't help but to be struck in wonder. Pro tip on parking: if you have a fresh baked pie from your awesome cousin who's really good at baking pies, then you can back your car up into the vines growing along the fence to help shade your car. Once you get to the entrance the friendly staff will sort you onto two different paths depending on your desire to enjoy the tiki bar or dine inside. Since the heat index was over 100F during our visit, we opted for the inside. There were a number of people still sitting outside, but I guess they have just resigned to the reality that we will continue to live in an ever warming world. The walk to the host stand is not that far but you are already getting to sense a theme. The nautical bent of the seafood restaurant is still heavily affected by the nuclear-bond level of energy that The Office US TV show exerts on this town and everything in it. The friendly hosts collected the number of people in my party, handed me a card with my info and directed me to "walk down the very long hallway to the second host stand." And boy are they right. It's a very long stroll through a sea of kitsch memorabilia. It was definitely interesting to view, my only complaint was the low hanging American flags that line the entire hallway. The American Flags slapped me in the face the entire walk. The walk definitely set the mood if you were going for "current American political environment." (A ton of kitsch with American flags slammed in your face every 2 seconds) Once you get to the second host stand, you are greeted by several cast of the office and a local host. That host will direct you to your table. The dining room we were placed in is a spacious room with a high ceiling and a model train that runs loops around the room. It even goes through a tunnel and crosses a sizeable trestle. The seats are comfortable and the dining area appeared reasonably clean. The menu has a well sized selection of food and the food we ordered was timely and had good taste and temperature. My wife's Caesar Salad may have actually been hiding a small metropolis based on it's size. But, even with the gargantuan size, the flavor was consistent and crisp. My scallops, applesauce and house salad we're all very tasty and warm. The only complaint about the food was overheard in the women's restroom. My wife reported that two women in the stalls were having a conversation and one said to the others that she didn't enjoy her shrimp. (With that info, I steered clear of the shrimp) The wait staff was also very attentive. He checked in on a good cadence, brought our food in a timely manner, and had a friendly demeanor. The only setback he suffered was he wasn't able to clear all the dishes from the table in one trip because he had over stressed his biceps working out the day before and was still recovering. But good for him for putting fitness first. The check came in a timely manner but we did not feel pressure to get the table turned and we were able to finish our drinks and wrap up the meal in a peaceful manner. On the way out, we did spend some time checking out the restaurant's extensive collection of kitsch. From the Barbie collections at our booth, to the 50/60's music group themed bathrooms, to the children's toys and displayed weapons... It was truly an American experience. Overall, I'd definitely come back if I was in the...
Read moreWe will never be back! Our experience was absolutely terrible from the moment we walked in to be on the waitlist for a table. If you want superior service and seafood, head to Catch 21 in downtown Scranton and skip this hoarders basement turned into a restaurant.
The manager who took our info for waitlist had no idea what he was doing, never got a text when our table was ready, physically had to walk back into the restaurant to remind them we were waiting, got a “card” with table number 4 and told we were to walk down a hallway to see the host to be seated. Didn’t get greeted for more than 10 minutes, waited another 15 for drinks and were given the wrong draft beer because “the other keg kicked”. So was just given whatever they chose for us I guess; ordered hazy IPAS and was given two Irish stouts? Our server was absolutely horrendous and inattentive; acted like she just didn’t care one bit. Took almost 30 minutes from the time we were sat to the time we were able to put our order in.
Caesar salad was okay, mako shark bites were okay but the sauce they are served with is disgusting; fresh lemon slice was a much better choice. Mains were lobster roll, cedar plank salmon, and Brazilian lobster tail. Ran out of drinks before the entrees ever came out and we weren’t able to ask for more until the dinners got dropped off. Everyone would’ve had 2+ more drinks if we had been served properly. Asked for more drinks and waited another 10 minutes before we got them. The only good meal was the salmon! The lobster roll was so small and the Brazilian lobster clearly had been sitting for a while before it was brought to the table. The lobster was SO tough and literally ice cold, as well as the drowned butter it was served with. Server never bothered to even look at us or ask how our meals were. We wanted dessert and more drinks but couldn’t fathom spending anymore of our money or time there so we left and went somewhere else to finish the night.
Overall terrible service and pretty mediocre food. Only good food was the salmon. The table next to us also experienced the same awful service, they sat for probably longer than we did before anyone acknowledged them, and it was just a random server walking by who asked, “did anyone greet you yet” to which the table next to us laughed and said no.
Overall this was a really terrible experience especially for the money spent, and our party was not the only one who suffered. I will literally never come back to this place for any reason whatsoever again and would never recommend anyone come here unless they want cold food and awful service. I feel like the gift shop and the random decor scattered through the restaurant is a distraction from the horrendous service and subpar food. Also your ladies room reeked and clearly hasn’t been cleaned or restocked recently; no soap or paper towels and smelled like a sewer! Will never be back. Didn’t get the name of our server but she was an older black woman and we were at table 4 in the dining room with the Star Wars diorama; worst server ever and your manager is...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Cooper’s Seafood House for the first time today. We moved to the Poconos over a year ago and we’re celebrating our dating anniversary. We wanted to do something different so we chose seafood. It was the best choice ever!
The restaurant opened around Noon today. We arrived a few minutes after Noon and the parking lot was packed. There was plenty of parking but we were surprised that the restaurant was so busy for a weekday lunch. As we parked, we knew this was definitely the place to be.
We walked inside and the walls are covered with memorabilia from North Eastern Pennsylvania history; as well as, actors, actresses, and musicians. It was a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. People were just walking around and looking at the various photos and antiques. The place is filled with history.
We sat down with our kids in a booth. It was absolutely family friendly. There were other children around the restaurant eating too. The menu had choices for everyone to include me. I have a food allergy that I am still learning. I had no problem with finding a good meal. The waitress even caught on and documented my allergy. She also gave suggestions. Normally, I feel frustrated, confined and restricted due to my allergy. Definitely not here. There is stuff for everyone! Most of the food is made fresh as if it was homemade. The kids were happy too. They had dinosaur chicken nuggets and fries which came in a fun cardboard boat.
The restaurant also had a brewery. The choices of drinks was mind blowing! In addition to their microbrews, the restaurant had over 10 pages of beers, wine, ciders, whiskey, bourbon, and scotch. Today’s special was martinis which is great because my go to drink is a lemon drop martini. With this in mind, we do a lot of traveling around the United States due to work. I have had martinis from Maine to Florida. This drink was the best one I ever had! Normally there is either too much vodka or too little sour mix. This bartender was a master! He mixed the drink with just the right alcohol, sour mix, and simple syrup. The drink was perfect! The presentation of the drink was spot on high class. It didn’t taste or look like it would be a daily special.
Our service was amazing! We highly recommend Tiffany! She was totally on point throughout the meal. She refilled our drinks without us asking. She asked me several times if I wanted another martini. She gave several suggestions for us and the kids. She was attentive to my food allergy. After ordering our food, she saw our two year old was fussy and trying to settle in. Tiffany out of no where brought over crayons and coloring papers for the kids.
It’s been a long time since we had this great of an experience dining out. We will definitely return. We have already told our friends and family about this restaurant. You will definitely see...
