Sorry, wrong pictures. This restaurant got this rating because I wasnât originally going to do a review like I do when I go to different restaurants. So after 20 minutes of waiting for a draft beer in a restaurant with 5 tables taken in the whole restaurant already eating dinner. The bar teller was a young kid who was too busy talking to two females in a unprofessional manner, attempted making a margarita for another customer and comically dumped it on himself when shaking it in the mixing cups!! So after 20 minutes I finally got a beer. Went to take my order and wasnât prepared. He forgot pen and paper so after another 5 minutes he came back with a pen and paper, took my order. The meal looked good but not as good as the third picture. I got that In North Carolina, my favorite restaurant as a truck driver on the East Coast. Ohhh!!! I done this review to warn everyone!!!! I got sick the next day!!! Still sick!!! Throwing up and you probably get it !!! Donât eat here!!! Or you could be sick like me on my day off!!! As you see the third photo has different tables!!! Donât eat here!!! The bar host will tell you he lived in Tokyo!!! Is professional drift car driver!! He jumps out of planes âď¸ !!! Watch him around females he is not professional. Gives the business a bad review. And the food!!! If you travel add me on google maps because I found some excellent restaurants with great hospitality. And the restraints that need help. Poor management etc I say it well. I canât believe the females in this restaurant because the bartender dumped the margarita all over himself, face, shirt,floor.. but that didnât phase them. Didnât clean it off himself. Do you know how sticky the mixture is !!! Have you ever spilt a margarita? You better clean it up asap !!! I bet the floor is still sticky!!! They probably have bugs behind doors !!! This restaurant needs a reality check!!! Wish I knew someone. I hate dirty restaurants. And poor management. I bet even if they cleaned it tomorrow itâs not...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible on all fronts! Before I go into detail on the worst eating experience I had here (happened today) I have to make it clear that this was my fourth time eating here and each one had downfalls. This latest visit sealed the fact that I will never again visit or recommended La Tolteca in Dickson City to anyone. Drive to the wb one and have a great dinner if you want good food. Okay today's visit. First: we get seated at a wobbly table that was tightly squeezed between a larger party's table (so tightly squeezed that the empty side of or square table had someone's back towards us. As in they took the chair that belonged to our table and turned it for someone else to use but yet still be touching our table with it) another square table and a booth. I ended up to where my chair was up against the booths table!! Since we were really hungry and they were packed, we decided not to make a fuss about it. Totally regret not complaining right away because each time a busser, waiter, or even patron had to walk through, I was asked to move. A busser came with a stack of dirty dishes and instead of walking the other way, ask me to get up and move!?! Second: the food was all messed up. Okay, it happens. However, it got worst. Our waiter comes over, and says oh that's not right with beans (we don't eat beans so we opted for rice). He took our plates. Comes back with the same plate about 3 minutes later and says we can't make you new plates but here's a side of rice!?! At this point we are hungry and visibly annoyed. Okay we take the plate. Lastly: our waiter never came back! Not to check on us, not to ask for a refill on our waters, nothing! We can only guess is that we looked so visibly upset he felt awkward or something. He was still serving other tables but not us. Another waiter came over with our check. Also the manager was no where to be found. I am so extremely upset with this dining experience. I have never had such a horrible experience ever eating...
Read moreI've been here a number of times. About 6-7 years ago, it was much better. At this point, it's no more than either a fun place to bring your kids or a fun place for a crowd more concerned with having some drinks in a colorful atmosphere than eating really good food. The prices are very fair, especially for today.
The good first. It's clean, the food is handled well, nobody will get sick, the staff is very nice, and as mentioned above, it's a fun place unless you want really good, made from scratch Mexican food.
The first red flag is everything comes out lightening fast with a scalding hot plate. That means it's been re-heated in a microwave. The rice you can see had been re-heated for a few days by just looking at it.
There's no heat and little flavor, but you can ask for that. In all fairness it may be intentional because American palets may complain with too much heat or spice.
I stopped coming, as there's much better places in the area for good Mexican food. It's not un-authentic, per se, it's just re heated and not very good. I don't think lights out food is their goal. I think affordable, fast served food that's secondary to a fun atmosphere is what they're going for here, and they succeed.
If your previous idea of "Mexican" food was Taco Bell or those fast casual burrito joints, then you'll like it. If you're looking for for drinks in a fun place, you'll like it. If you have no clue how to cook, you'll like it. If you want a fun, fast place to bring your kids, where they're welcome, you'll be happy. The staff are really great and it's a comfortable, clean, fun, pleasant enough place.
If you've had real and good Mexican food, skip it. If you're a food person who can cook and recognize quality and understands that surreal speed and a flaming hot plate = microwave and doesn't taste...
