I hate leaving this type of review because we loved this place up until a year or so ago when the food quality started to go downhill. I’m hoping enough people bring this to their attention, they’ll make some changes. Letting them know in person didn’t seem to make much of an impact. We decided to give it another shot this afternoon for lunch because they have so many positive reviews, but it was so bad again. I’ll start with my wife’s food. She’s very particular, so when she said the chicken in her gyro was rubbery I tried a piece fully expecting it to be fine. I was very surprised that it was in fact hard and chewy like rubber. When she told the waitress about it, my wife pulled a piece out of the sandwich to demonstrate and actually couldn’t pull it apart. The waitress took it away and came back telling us she took off the chicken gyro and only charged her $4 for the fries that came with the gyro. Considering her lunch was ruined, it wasn’t a very grand gesture. My chicken panini was all bread with the smallest piece of chicken, almost no sauce and unmelted cheese. It was the saddest sandwich you ever saw. I really wish I had taken a picture of it, but I didn’t plan to leave a review until I got sick like 20 minutes later. Honestly I didn’t think food could make you sick that fast, but apparently it can. I’m not particular, and can eat almost anything, but this just wasn’t good, and the fact that it made me physically ill was the last straw for this place. It’s almost 6 hours later and I’ll spare the details but I’m still really sick. I feel awful, nauseous, dehydrated and shaky/weak. We really liked this place, but in the last year it just went so far downhill, and after this last time, the third chance we gave it hoping the last couple were just flukes, we definitely won’t be going back. I wish we had skipped lunch. It’s such a shame. 1 star...
Read moreWant to preface this by saying I only ever had breakfast here, and I know I'm the odd one out, but feel like it's a fair review to caution others of.
Ordered two eggs, home fries (somewhat more like a mix of home fries and hash browns, not hating on that though), and sausage links. While nothing was cooked improperly, if you're more averse to the flavor of butter, be sure to ask ahead to try to remedy this. As in, every single item tasted mostly of butter and nothing much else, to the strong effect of me having the aftertaste of butter in my mouth for over an hour after leaving.
I was told afterwards when asking about this that I could ask when ordering to tone down the butter, but I honestly can't believe so much butter is used. Not a health thing, I just extremely dislike an overly butter flavor. For some, this might actually be a positive, but for me, this is a bit of a negative when it comes to the breakfast portion of the menu. Personally, I feel that when a place decides to just throw butter into food just because, it's almost like a sign of not going the full distance, and relying on some easy way out.
Another mention is the sausage links are somewhat odd to me. A crispy outer skin, which is great, but the inside has a strangely overly soft texture. Absolutely picture perfect eggs though, nothing short of a perfect cook on them (apart from the excess of butter in my opinion). And to mention again, if you order home fries and expect cubed potatoes, you won't get that, but instead a sort of mixture of home fries and hash browns, which honestly isn't a negative to me. Apart from, again, the excessive taste of butter.
Nothing against the staff, who were all polite and doing their absolute best, a good staff in the early morning is a great thing to tired guests, and this place...
Read moreI'm writing this after having stumbled upon another review for this place that echos why I don't eat here. I've always thought it was just me, but apparently it's not, and something needs to be said.
I've no complaints about the food or general atmosphere. It's all great, and I wish I could bring myself to eat here again.
My problem is that each time I go here, the woman (women?) ringing up my bill makes a big deal over my tips, which are not bad, BTW.
She is/was bold enough to request cash and explains that if I pay with credit card she won't get that full amount because of fees from the credit card company.
So, she essentially puts me on the spot to tell me that I'm not giving her enough money. Instead of saying "thank you", I'm leaving feeling like I've just been insulted and guilt tripped, because I'm not going to be coerced into giving a larger tip, and I don't normally have cash on me.
Again, I'm not a bad tipper.
This isn't a one time thing, and it was years between incidents. I went there a second time because I couldn't remember why I was staying away. It didn't hit me until I paid my bill again.
Very disappointing. Would give this 5 stars, but the end result makes me not return.
The food is great, but apparently their pay is so low that the waitresses have to beg or steal for money. The experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth despite the great food.
I say "steal" because of the other review review prompting this review. If you want to read that, look for...
