I want to start by saying that this hotel is only getting two stars because you don't pay by the hour. I stay at Marriott's often I am a credit card holder. At one time I was at the top level and a platinum elite member. I spent thousands of dollars staying at Marriott's to earn the status. Apparently they changed their rules and made me start from the beginning which was very frustrating and very disappointing. So let's talk about this hotel. We stayed here over Christmas and it was disgusting. This is the second time We are here. I forgot it was this hotel and booked it again. It Seems like there's a mold problem (I am allergic to mold and I sneeze all the time when I'm here, I'm also experiencing migraines) Here they are trying to patch up everywhere. Wallpaper covering bathroom walls which I know is modern but you can just tell from the floor in the bathroom that there is mold. I remember that from my last visit here. They have tried to mildly updated this one with new shower tile like other Marriotts that are fully updated. Here They put it over whatever was already there and so when you're in the shower/bathtub that is super tight for a small woman, you turn your head you can smash it off some shelf that they put in there that is also falling off the wall. The bathtub/shower does not drain at all. The bathtub was disgusting and I couldn't even give my kid a bath. The fan in the bathroom is so loud you won't even want to turn it on because it'll drive you insane. I guess they forgot to retile The bathroom floor to cover it up the mold. There is no storage anywhere in bathroom. Lately we have stayed at several Marriotts that are literally falling apart. For example Headboards disintegrating It was a nice room very spacious Beds were comfortable. But disintegrating headboards really get it together. I honestly didn't want to sleep in that bed I couldn't imagine how it got that way. Then I looked at the other bed and it was the same way but less damage. This year we finally decided to take a spring break vacation after not going anywhere due to COVID once COVID protocols were lifted we went to residence inn pompano Beach FL. Our flights are delayed. We arrive very late after 1:00Am. We get ready to go to bed. And the Pull out couche collapses with no way to stand up because it is broken metal. At the foot of the bed. Mattresses on both beds and pull outs are very old and uncomfortable. My back and my kids backs hurt for a week after a vacation due to the beds. Not the pull out! I'm sure that didn't feel good either. It had a washer or dryer it was broken. They did bring in a new one that looked exactly like the old one it also was a dual washer dryer so you didn't have to switch machines which sounds cool but is not because it never dries the clothes. The clothes literally take 4 hours to wash and dry a very small amount of clothes. And even after repeating just dry cycles the clothes were still wet we'd have to lay them out on a windowsill. An entire day to wash the clothes for 1 day. That Marriott had more storage in the bathroom but the wood was literally peeling away from the bathroom counter. The vent fans are disgusting to look at They are full of I don't even know what molds dust and anything else you can think of. Housekeeping never came. This is after protocols are lifted and housekeeping should be coming. You don't have to request housekeeping anymore. Housekeeping only came after I requested it. They wouldn't come and take out the trash. They wouldn't leave towels, or they would tell me they were out of them, which meant we never had towels, wash clots or hand towels. I would hang up our towels to dry as every other Marriott has signs that say save the planet. When they would clean they would take the towels that were hung up to dry. The worst part about Broward county Florida. Is that they don't recycle anything at all. They Don't provide recycling cans. Broward county Florida says recycling is too hard. A place literally on the ocean making the planet worse. So...
Read moreIn May, I made a reservation with the Fairfield Inn Scranton, to stay one night in a room with two queen beds for myself, my wife, and my 10 year old child. On August 9, the day before our stay, I received an email: "We are reaching out to you to notify you that we are currently under renovation and are not expecting to have a return on some of our rooms. Unfortunately we will not have a room for you here at the property… Therefore, we were able to secure a location for you less than a mile away... Please go to the front desk at the Holiday Inn."
On August 10, we arrived at the Holiday Inn, and were told that we did NOT have a reservation. I showed them the email, and they called the desk at the Fairfield Inn, where, apparently we DID have a reservation, notwithstanding the email. We got back in the car, and found our way to the Fairfield Inn, where we drove around the building without being able to ascertain where the door was, as the lobby is boarded up and fenced off. When we made our way through the construction to the front desk, we were told that they did not, in fact, have a room with two beds available. But they would give us two king rooms - in different sections of the hotel. Remember, we are traveling with a ten year old.
As we walked back to the car to retrieve our luggage, it occurred to us that as we were on our way home from a camping trip, we had an air mattress packed in the car. I have never before checked into a hotel room and said "Thank God we have camping gear with us."
The hotel advertises "Start each morning with our expanded free hot breakfast, now featuring scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt and more!" There was cereal, a fridge with single serve cartons of milk and some creamer, some yogurts, coffee and tea, muffins, bagels, english muffins, a toaster, a microwave, and most alarmingly a few Jimmy Dean sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwiches on the counter. Those last note on the label "Keep Frozen."
The first pleasant surprise we received was at checkout, when we found that the hotel had comped us for our stay. Which only seems appropriate, as we most definitely did NOT receive amenities commensurate with the room rate I reserved at.
Throughout our stay, the hotel staff were never anything less than courteous and helpful - they were clearly doing the best they could under terrible conditions. But it is horrifically irresponsible to attempt to complete this level of renovations with...
Read moreMy experience at this hotel in Scranton, PA was not only frustrating but also deeply disappointing, especially given the circumstances. I was in town for my uncle's memorial service, and what should have been a simple reservation process turned into an absolute nightmare.||It started when I arrived in Scranton and realized I never received a confirmation email for my booking. Concerned, I called the hotel to check if my reservation was in their system. To my shock, they claimed there was no reservation under my name, leaving me scrambling to book another place to stay at the last minute.||However, the situation only worsened the next day when I noticed a charge on my credit card from the hotel. Confused and frustrated, I immediately called the property again, only to be told they still couldn’t locate my reservation. I had to personally provide my information to the front desk staff, who then passed it along to their operations manager. After much back-and-forth, I finally received an email from the operations manager who suddenly “found” my reservation. Despite the clear error on their part, there was no offer of compensation, apology, or acknowledgment of their incompetence.||To make matters worse, I filed a dispute with Marriott Bonvoy, believing they would step in and help resolve the issue. Instead, the property had the audacity to lie to Marriott, claiming they had never received any calls from me. As a result, Marriott Bonvoy completely failed to stand by their customer, leaving me with no refund and feeling utterly disrespected during an already difficult time.||This experience was not just an inconvenience—it was a total lack of empathy and professionalism during an already difficult moment in my life. The dishonesty and incompetence from both the hotel and Marriott Bonvoy are inexcusable. I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel if you expect even the bare minimum level of service...
