Great place! Been wanting to come here for a couple of years but always so busy n packed on the weekends. Finally we came on a rainy Wednesday, no line at all. You go to the food line, just like a seafood market n pick from the seafood selection they have. They have the name of the seafood n price of cooked or raw. Different kinds of fish, shrimp, they have scallops n oysters. Sides are steamed rice, fries, onion rings, n hush puppies. We had tilapia, medium shrimp, scallops, fries, jalapeno, n steamed rice. Next time we will not get the steamed rice due to plenty of food for 2. I did see some of the reviews n they mention you can bring your own drinks but when we went, they had a sign on the register saying outside drinks not permitted. My pic does not show the scallops but next time we will get the scallops grilled instead of fried. The view is also beautiful depending on where u sit. Downfall here are the restrooms, 1 women n 1 men, so on a busy day I can imagine the restroom getting dirty quick and long waiting line. Definitely we will be coming back.

During my recent visit to Pier 8, I decided to sample their fried fish battered with cornmeal, hoping for a flavorful and satisfying dish. Unfortunately, my experience with this particular menu item mirrored my previous encounters at the restaurant - lacking in taste and disappointing overall. The fried fish, coated with cornmeal batter, failed to deliver the savory and robust flavors that I had anticipated. Despite its promising appearance, the dish turned out to be surprisingly flavorless, leaving much to be desired in terms of taste and culinary satisfaction. The lack of seasoning and seasoning left the fish tasting bland and unremarkable. While the concept of fried fish battered with cornmeal had the potential to be a standout dish on the menu, the execution fell short of expectations. The absence of flavor in this particular dish further highlights the culinary shortcomings that seem to persist at Pier 8, detracting from the overall dining experience. In light of this disappointing encounter with the fried fish battered with cornmeal, I find myself even more hesitant to consider a return visit to Pier 8. The consistent lack of taste and flavor in the food offerings casts doubt on the restaurant's ability to provide a truly satisfying dining experience. In conclusion, Pier 8's fried fish battered with cornmeal failed to impress, adding to the list of underwhelming dishes I have encountered at the restaurant. Until significant improvements are made to enhance the flavor and quality of the food, I remain unsure about revisiting Pier 8 in the future.le

STEER CLEAR! We entered this establishment with high hopes after seeing the 4.4 stars on the review. I would have to say that after eating here, the majority of those reviews must be false. This establishment is utterly horrendous. They did not say, but they only fried the food. It took them a few minutes to talk to us once we entered, and then they directed us to the fish line. You choose your fish, and they weigh it, then tell you to go to the cash register. At the cash register, you have to choose a can of soda or bottled water. The food was as bland as you could get, and the batter was extremely overly salted. The oysters were fried and tasted like burnt oil and salt. The squid was also fried and had a super salty taste and was extremely rubbery being indicative of being cooked too long. The fish was crusted over and slightly burnt, the flavor being burnt oil, salt with a slight fishy taste. We were unable to eat much of the food and vomited shortly after consuming what little we did. I will say it is my estimation there is NO ACTUAL CHEF that works here, and if you choose to eat here, eat at your own peril. THIRD WORLD cooking at its worst!!!

📣 listen, this restaurant is worth figuring out! When you go in you immediately see the fish market. Don't be intimidated and leave like the family in front of us. Don't walk past it and look for a hostess/table/alternate entrance like we did 😂 Order your food at the market. What you see is what you are getting. It doesn't get much fresher than that...unless of course the fish is at the end of your hook! You can order combos or you can be adventurous and order by the item. Our family went all in. We ordered an entire flounder, 1 lb of shrimp, 1of of calamari, a large french fry, 4 egg rolls and a large fried rice. There was 4 of us and way more food than we could eat! Oh and 3 beers +2 cokes. Our total with tip was sub $90! Everything was scrumptious, sauces were delivered right to our table, we had a spot overlooking the bay and it was gorgeous. Absolutely recommend and the next time we're in Houston we'll be there!

I’ve been craving fried red snapper for some months now. I found this place and decided to take that hour trip to experience my fried fish. I actually invited a friend, who had ordered their food before I arrived. As I’m sitting down, she’s sprinkling salt and pepper over her food, said it needed seasoning. I tell her I hope I don’t have to add anything to mine. My food came out so beautiful and supa light coloring. I dig into the fish…sigh….I dig into the shrimp….sigh….I taste a fry…sigh….Unfortunately, I had to add salt, lemon, hot sauce, tarter sauce, and some ketchup to add flavor to my beautiful dish. They should start asking customers if you want regular seasoning or seasoning you can taste after being fried. I would return only if I’m in Kemah, but I will definitely stop at the store to buy some type of seasoning. I paid 71.68, I was expecting to be wowed!
