I have been a loyal customer for over 8 years, my husband and I chose to get married here based off of the aesthetics and ambiance we have loved for years. Raffi, the event manager and her event staff, completely ruined my impression of Villa Capri. To sum it up-I would NOT waste a dime at this establishment (for any special events) in the future.
To summarize the issues I had with what was supposed to be the best day of my life: The staff were completely clueless about the Timeline and Floorplan that I had overexplained and shared with Raffi. I had to again OVEREXPLAIN every detail WHILE I was getting ready, details Raffi said she had under control. Raffi was not present at my wedding at ALL. She promised to be there to organize staff and make sure the Timeline was followed since we had a few small details. Instead, I was left to manage the staff from the second I arrived to the second I left. Throughout the planning process, Raffi took multiple days to respond to EACH MESSAGE-question, request, answer, etc. it was incredibly stressful and unprofessional. The AC does NOT WORK, I got married in June, I was promised the AC worked, but we were dripping sweat the entire time. (You can't adjust the thermostat, it is set at mid/high 70's) My husband and I did not get to eat any of our food because the staff took over a hour to serve my small guest count of 40 people. We had to move on to the hour late champagne toasts and cake cutting. The bar staff did not know how to communicate with guests when the bar limit was reached, instead they told everyone they were closed instead of informing them they could simply pay for their drinks. Overall Staff issues: served dinner a hour late, tried to say I had guests arriving late (I think I would know I only had 40 people) and wouldn't serve them until I spoke to the staff, didn't pass out champagne at the designated time for toasts-I HAD TO ASK THEM TO BEGIN 30 minutes after the original time, staff was rude and unwilling to listen to the service style and timeline I had given Raffi weeeeeeeeks before.
I work in the realm of upscale events and this was severely below my standards. I was required to set up all of my decorations, create all timelines and floorplans-something I had no issue with. My frustration stems from the lack of promised support and simple comprehension of what we wanted. I'm not sorry for my aggressive review as we paid a large amount for a very simple service that was somehow not executed correctly. I will confidently say, until a new Event Manager is in place, this is the worst place to host your...
Read moreWe were sent to Villa Capri on a Saturday evening by Frenchies as they wouldn't have a table for our family of 6 for an hour. Now I see the men are brothers!
I called ahead to check, and they said if we came right away, they'd have a table.
The family who walked in right ahead of us also had 6 but had not called, and they were able to be seated outside immediately. While the hostess sat them the manager and bar tender asked if we had a reservation and we explained we had only just called and they sat us at a table by the window with a great view of the lake. I think they had a miscommunication with the hostess as she had to rearrange some things when she came back in.
The waiter brought waters and took our orders and explained the salad bar was included. We did order garlic bread, which many Italian places include some bread, and this one did not, but it was only $2.50, so just remember to order bread as it won't just be brought out.
We had initially chosen Frenchies as it didn't look too fancy for how we were dressed after a day at Space Center with kids. Villa Capri, however, everyone else was dressed nicely. It wasn't a problem there's no dress code, but if you're planning a visit that's more of the ambiance. There were other families with kids, couples, groups of friends or family, and a large group. So it's a good place for any size group, but it's probably best to make a reservation especially for indoors. However, it seemed tables were opening up again around 7:30-8. The outdoors was very pretty garden with the nice dock and lake view.
The food was delicious. I loved the house dressing at the salad bar, but be aware it has mushrooms if that's not your thing. My husband chose ranch. The garlic bread was strong and came with some delicious olive oil. I could have enjoyed a plain bread with the oil slightly more I think, but it was great. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs a classic. The baby ended up gobbling some of that down. I had a special listed under pastas I can't see it on the website now it was maybe Maryon's Special or something. Sausage, penne, sauce, mushrooms and delicious. The kids all had chicken fettuccine Alfredo and we had way extra. I tried that dish which was good, but preferred mine! It was not too expensive, quite reasonable, especially including the salad bar. If we were local, I'd definitely be back. I'm going to remember this place when we are in...
Read moreI cannot get the foul taste out of my mouth! Ok here is my honest review. Start with the service I know now a days employers are forced to hire the mentally challenged so they can afford to have a crew but seriously at least feed them. The employees will walk right up to the 48 hour old buffet and grab food right out of the bowl with thier hands and eat in front of you while you wait to use a utensil that hasn't been washed since it was new. The older cooks come out of the kitchen shoving thier fingers into a bowl of strawberries eating them while they find a half eaten frozen cake and dump the rest onto that plate. The sweet tea is unsweetend dirt water I think gathered from the lake behind the detached garage. By the way I'm all for entrepreneurship and if making your detached garage into a restaurant is how you get your start fair enough go for it, but serve good food in a hygienic atmosphere. So after your done eating because you feel obligated after you spend 10 minutes going up to the home doors and everywhere else to get into the restaurant be aware the toilets don't flush. When you vomit the food back up before you leave you will be barfing on top of someone else's vomit. It was gross and I can't post the Pic. You get charged for every coke refill you ask for so be happy with the dirty water I think those may be free. The lettuce and tomatoes were good but after seeing dirty fingers in all the food on the buffet tables I still can't believe I ate it. Save your money go dig some unmarked cans out of a dumpster and eat those you will be better off. Possibly a lot healthier too. At best the food quality here is as a retirement home food with a ton of hot pepper and garlic to cover up the...
