Owner, change the host! Last night we’ve been walking at the Seal Beach and saw that our favorite ( one day) Walt's Wharf restaurant is open! It is parking lot sitting of course, but it is open! We decided to have a dinner at this place and came to the host in front of the restaurant to inquire how long the wait is. She said that we have 3 more couples in front of us and it is about 30 min wait. OK, we took some sits on the street and were patiently waiting. 30 minutes passed and the host said that there are 5 more couples in front of us. When I asked how it is possible, the host – arrogant toll masked person, probably high school drop-out based on her disrespect to people – just dismissed me and did not respond. Then my husband approached her asking the same question, she said there are 6 more couples in front of us and we have to wait for another 30 min. We waited. I feel sick today because of the cold I had to endure. During our wait there was a table open for 15 minutes but the toll arrogant host did not sit us, she was waiting for her friends, and when they eventually came, she sited them. She said we need to wait another 30 min. We left. I just wish to this toll arrogant mean lying dishonest person that her mouth will never had a foot in it whenever she needs it for the duration of her life. Our favorite restaurant is dead to us. My note to the owner – show me your host, I’ll tell you who you are. We will not be back. Disgusting service. Goodbye

After having been closed following a heartbreaking fire that destroyed this longtime cornerstone restaurant on Main St. in Seal Beach (since back when I was a kid, more than 50 years ago!), it was SO nice to see it back up and running again, while visiting my old hometown area. And the service and food did NOT disappoint... just as good as it always was. Friendly wait staff, excellent, quality, tasty food, and a really cool "open" kitchen design that allows you to walk right up and peer in the glass kitchen walls to see what's goin' on in there. Walt's clam chowder is an institution. Medium thick, amazing clam flavor, and the clams - HUGE, fresh, chewy clams, and LOTS of 'em! So good, especially when paired with the complimentary mini sourdough rolls! The shrimp/scallops (bay, smaller type, but still very tasty) was excellent, with a very rich, very garlicky parmesan cream sauce. SO very good, served piping hot and full of flavor! (Ok, full disclosure, the portions are HUGE... I "might" have forgotten to take a pic before I dug in because it looked SO good... so please imagine a portion about 20% MORE than the large amount of pasta already pictured here ;) . Prices are not by any means "value" or cheap here, but the food quality is worth it! Highly recommend supporting this Seal Beach institution again, now that they're back in full swing for about the past month. Welcome back Walt's!!

Good customer service but the food left alot to be desired. We ordered crab cakes and calamari for appetizers. The calamari was great. The crab cakes were mostly breading. There was very little crab in them and they weren't very well seasoned. The coleslaw was great and homemade and the fries were great. The cod fish had a weird taste to it. Two of our party had the cod fish and both had stomach aches after eating a few bites of it. The fish was not seasoned at all, but it seemed as if the batter was very lightly seasoned but not well enough to carry the taste of the fish. The two of our party who ordered the fish weren't eating the fish and the waiter noticed that it wasn't being touched and offered to remove it from the bill. He offered to replace it with something else. The manager came over and apologized and wanted to ensure that we weren't leaving hungry. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and the service team was great.

Expensive place with very poor service and food. Went to Walt's the day before Valentine's day to avoid the rush. We had been there about 6 months ago and everything was OK. We arrived at 430. Asked waiter about the 64 dollar mixed seafood grill. He said all items were oak grilled and enough to share. I ordered the seafood grill for my wife and I ordered a 19.00 burger. I noticed her not saying much about her dinner. She said taste this I tasted it and it was terrible. She had eaten enough to not send it back If she would have told me to taste it at the beginning back it would have gone. I did notice when I went to the restroom that flames were coming up past the grate on the grill which is a sign that coals are not ready to cook yet it puts an almost chemical taste to your food. They cook with oak which should not add an overbearing tast to anything grilled. My burger had no flavor at all. Never saw a waiter again until we were ready to leave. I only had three bites of my burger Wife took most of her overpriced smokey seafood home. Lobster the size of an 7 dollar lobster you get the grocery store Everything was cooked properly though. After a long wait we flagged down a waiter not the one that took our original order to ask for a box and the bill. I did tell him we were dissatisfied with our dinner and the service. He came back with the check and said he talked to the manager and they took the flavourless burger off the bill. Very overpriced place with horrible service. Restaurant was not very busy service should have been great. Wife and I dine out a lot and I have reviewed quite a few restaurants and hate to give a review like this. Hopefully someone will read it and look into...

One of my favorite seafood places in the whole wide world! We've never lived near this restaurant/bar in Seal Beach, but we were still willing to drive nearly an hour to eat here.

My favorite here is the Mixed Seafood Grill. Comes with large succulent scallops, grilled fish of the day, garlic butter grilled shrimp, a small half lobster tail and steamed clams! Its as if you threw a net into the ocean and hit the jackpot. All are perfectly cooked. Comes with side of rice and a choice of vegetable.

My other favorite here is the Macadamia Crusted Halibut in a burre blanc sauce. I'm licking my lips thinking about it right now.

We'll usually go early and grab a table in the bar area, & have a drink & an order of their Ortega style steamed clams-cooked in a pot of white wine, butter & garlic, along with finely diced tomatoes, jalapeno peppers and cilantro. Flavor explosion! Sometimes I like dunking the sourdough bread in the leftover sauce, after we've polished off the clams. Their bar always has really good wine & tap beers choices, plus a whole wall refrigerator of different adult beverages that you'll notice when you come inside.

Dining area at Walt's Wharf is large and they have tables upstairs, as well.

If I'm not too stuffed after eating here, they have lots of cute shops, including a baked goods shop that we pass and sometimes stop into, on our way to the Seal Beach Pier, right...
